My name's Blake. I got my first camera about a year and a half ago. A Nikon D200. Love Photography/Filmmaking and am currently saving for a video cam (HVX???) as I have a serious itch to scratch in filmmaking...

Here are some of my photo's...

Gorgeous work Blake. What glass are you shooting on?

Do you do a lot of Photoshop work? The sharp and gritty style is one of my favorites.

Thanks.

I use Lightroom as well as Photoshop. I love primes. I have been shooting with a sigma 30mm f1.4 and a Nikkor 50mm f1.4.... and the lensbaby. Can't do without that lens. Contrary to what some believe, you can not simulate that slurred effect in photoshop. The shot of the pears was taken with it. It's a 50mm focal length. I can't wait to get my hands on the Nikkor 85mm f1.4 cream machine.. : ) It's like butta!

The grunge effect is somewhat easy if you want it to be. Photoshop allows you to do the same thing multiple ways. I like easy. Textures are the easiest way (imho) to get a grunge effect going. It's all in how you want to work it.

Care to share the process of getting those colors?
Great great photos.
Thank you.

I shoot RAW and edit in Lightroom which gives me a great deal of control over color w/out having to go to photoshop. I tend to work my way down the develop panel in Lightroom starting with Exposure, all the way down to color. Shooting RAW though, it a crucial part to my workflow. I've noticed that different glass will render colors differently. The Sigma 30mm f1.4 is a phenomenal lens which gives spectaular color straight out of camera.

The last is my favorite, nice action shot. Just got Lightroom myself, pretty good software. You did a great job with it on these photos.

Thanks for the info.
What kind of lighting set up did you use for the shot with the girl?

Nice stuff. I use Aperture which is just about the same as Lightroom. I used the beta version of Lightroom for awhile.

Thanks for the info.
What kind of lighting set up did you use for the shot with the girl?

For both shots of the girl (my wife), I used one small Nikon SB800 speedlight, lit through a shoot through umbrella.
