Summer Class/Camp for Film Student (will be freshman in fall)

I'm going to be a freshmen in college this fall and I was wondering if anyone knew of any Film Classes/Camps that I could consider attending over the summer. This is not something I'm hoping to get a credit out, mainly because I can't seem to surround myself with enough passionate people and I love learning about and making films. I've read about NYFA's program, kind of expensive, any alternatives? Looking for a program 2-5 weeks long.

I'm trying to find a class/camp that doesn't just focus on teaching software or specific technical things like that since I already have the equipment to make movies and can learn a lot of it online. I'd also say I'm a bit more advanced than some my age so my objective is to have the opportunity to work and learn with other experienced creative people my age. (I work with people who have never made a movie all too often)

Anyone? I've heard of NYFA, which doesn't provide housing and is a bit pricy so it's not an option. US Performing Arts looks decent, but I was wondering if there were any other programs out there.

I have extensively researched this, and am kinda in the same position as you. There's a couple options for you.

The first, is NYFA. I know you said that it didn't seem right, but it's a great program, and they do provide housing, you just have to pay extra. It's gonna be a little pricy, pretty much whatever you do.

Another option is SOCAPA. Check out their website. It's a good program, so I've heard, and about the same price as NYFA's, and housing is yet again extra.

Interlochen is an arts camp that offers a movie option. They've only been doing it for about three years though, and it's not that good a camp, while being, yet again, expensive.

Prague Film School, is in Prague. Plane Tickets are expensive, but it's less expensive for a longer course, and I've heard good things about that program also.

Go to www.filmmaking.net and check out their film school listings. They might have something listed that can fit your needs.

I was also going to suggest NYFA. I did their high school program at Universal back in 2003. It was a great experience, I recommend it.

Can you link me to NYFA's page about housing? Myself and other people I know cannot find it.

I have a friend who teaches/ assists at a workshop in Maine. I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm sure there are not too many in Maine to confuse. I'd try a google search on it. He speaks very highly of it and It sounded good to me!
