Hi Guys,
What do you think about the brand PortaBrace
Im thinking of distributing this product, i just want to get some feed back in relation to product perception, durability, price etc...
all feed back would be appreciated.
cheers
I personally prefer soft cases for all of my gear, and from my experience, PortaBrace is the standard to which others strive. It's not cheap, but when I buy a case for something, i don't want to have to think about buying another one - so it's worth it.
Thats, great....I agree most people like the brand...i think its been in the market place for a long time and "made in USA" which I feel is a bonus...compared with alot of other product thats made in China.
I have the HVX rain cover. Fantastic design. I also have a Porta-Brace backpack that I was sold on it being airplane ready, but its just a bit oversized. However, very good build quality.
The Broadcast industry in Hong-Kong and Macau use Porta-Brace extensively.
I have 2 PB bags. The quality is excellent. One came from B&H and one purchased locally. I would have bought the first locally but the vendor didn't have it in stock (production bag).
I dont mind lugging my HVX around in the storm case, but id prefer to use the PB...which could you guys recommend for the HVX, I also have the Extreme and some lenses, But i need it as carry on luggage.
I should have mentioned that I'm referring specifically to their hard cases. I have seen an used their soft cases, and if I was still using soft I would not have a problem giving them a go.
I will not buy their hard cases again though. Too many latches on the large cases and the foam sucks. Over all just doesn't feel as secure and touch as Pelican. I stick exclusively to Pelican hard cases now.
I've got a portababrace sling bag I just carry all my crap in everyday and its tough as nails. I've got a couple of petrol bags though (audio bag and monitor case) and they are even better made in my opinion. Its hard to say though as I dont have two of the same from each brand (audio bag vs my slingbag is kinda tough to compare). I like the petrol ballistic nylon though, the portabrace canvas is kinda soft and will tear faster. I think portabrace, kata, and petrol are pretty much the big three in soft cases though, so if you are carrying one of those lines its not a bad thing at all.
I look for quality, but price is also a consideration. Could care less where its made if they did a good job and the product does what it needs to do. Customer service is also important to me - you better stand behind your products and have a good dealer network that does the same.
Call me Snobby....BUt if i see a product at the same price and it was made in Australia or Uk or USA, as opposed to China, Id buy the First.
Wouldnt you?
If its the same product at the same price with the same quality sure I'll support our economy and by US made. If its UK vs china or Australia vs China I could really care less. Rarely is that the case though. Petrol is an isreali based company that makes their product in China. I like it better than the portabrace stuff so I bought. I'm not even sure what the price difference is if there is one. Kata bags are isreali as well and they make body armor in addition to camera bags. Doesnt matter much to me either. They make kick ass bags so I buy them. I'm very product driven. I still wouldnt hesitate to be any or all of the three brands in a store.
