What CREDIT would you give this person?

This is probably a crazy question but anyway, What do you call the motion picture intro that comes up first with the name of the movie studio? and how do you get a GREAT one made? ONLY reply to this message if you know what it is.

You dont get one made. They come with the film.

yeah every movie I've bought has had one, never really thought about it. Thanks for clearing it up Devon. And thanks for including your name.

Okay, it's time to be nice and give the answer...

...it's a logo. An animated one.

If you want a GREAT one made, hire a company like Pacific Title and Design. They'll design and produce it for you. For about what the last five or six DVX festival-winning films probably cost to make, all together.

It's technically known as a bumper.

I know more than one person that refers to them as bumpers regardless of the distribution channel.

interesting. i guess they can call them whatever they want. but that's generally a broadcast term for a brief logo transition during a commercial break. i cut trailers for all the major studios and have their animated logos on hdcam and digibeta locked away in my vault. no one i know calls them bumpers.

I've also never heard 'bumpers' used, outside of describing inter-program/commercial transitions for television.

All due respect to Wikipedia, but it's an intrinsically unreliable source - and beyond that the article linked is tagged with no reference sources, may need a complete rewrite, etcetera. People around here with actual professional experience, impress me as a better source than a wiki...

You might also refer to it as a "motion logo" or a "motion graphic," but those terms are very generic.
