Why is Joel Schumacher still allowed to direct?

I know this is a rather dumb topic with no real point but personal griping. But still:
- The Number 23
- The Phantom of the Opera
- Batman & Robin
- Batman Forever

I mean common! Now, I'll admit, the earlier 90's were okay. We had "Falling Down", and "Flatliners" was alright. But still.
Anyway, please feel free to comment, even mention a few directors YOU don't like. And we can all have fun bitching pointlessly. Let's give it a go.

I happened to like The Number 23. The others however, not a big fan of. I've only seen a couple director bashing threads; I should look harder.

Well, he also helmed:

The Lost Boys
St. Elmo's Fire
Flatliners
The Client
Veronica Guerin

These are all good films. Sure he's done some crap, but you can't ignore the good stuff if you want to discuss him. Schumacher came from a costume designer background, and that sense of flair and melodrama is apparent in his filmmaking. Look at Lost Boys and Flatliners and you can see that baroque and melodramatic quality in the lighting, the use of colored gels and fog, and the clothing. I don't like his recent stuff but Lost Boys is a classic from my childhood, and when I watch his stuff I feel like there's something I can take away and learn from it.
