I have done alot of searches, cant find the answer easy, hope you all dont mind me asking questions -

The Sony EX-1 is about 5 pounds, the Letus EX about 3 pounds,... what about letus support rods, lens and Redrock FF?

Im hoping the full rig will come in at 10 pounds or less???:undecided

Hi Nicky:

Under 10lbs? Not even close, you will need a better tripod.

Sony PMW EX-1 = 5.3lbs
Sony BP-U30 battery = 8oz
2 Sony SBP-8 cards = 7.04 oz
Letus Extreme = 3.3lbs
Letus Rod Support System = 2-3lbs depending on rod type and length
Red Rock FF = 2lbs
Nikon still lenses = from 1-3 lbs, depending on focal length and type (older AIS are heavier than new cheap plastic Ds, zooms are bigger and heavier than primes. 1.4 primes are heavier than 1.8)

Also don't forget tripod plate, lens gear, lens support bracket and of course, you eventually will want to add matte box and filters too.

My HVX with all of the above PLUS matte box and filters is 19.3lbs.

Best,

Dan

Yeh... what was I thinking?

Thanks for the help! Any suggestions for hand-held or shoulder mount?

Oh... and tripod too?

Lots of good options, Sachtler, Panther, O'Connor, I have the Sachtler DV-6SB paired with the Miller Solo DV carbon fiber legs. Outstanding setup for the HVX. I have had it for about a year and a half now and it continues to amaze.

Just don't get Bogen. If money is tight and you can't afford the professional stuff, get either a Cartoni Focus or a Libec LS-38, they are the low cost consolation prizes that aren't too bad.

Great advice on tripods, I really appreciate the help!

The zacuto handheld package is expensive, and I already have rod support system from letus.

I was just wondering, maybe I could just get the Zgrip handles and shoulder support???
Surely that could work?

I would contact Zacuto for confirmation on that, I am not sure if it would all balance out and work correctly. They would know.
