Oh My God! GULLAGER IS BACK!

So I'm sitting there watching this obscure Sundance wanna-be film with Christian Slater and Elisha Cuthbert called "He Was A Quiet Man". It was about some guy who plans to shoot up his work only to plan it on the same day as someone ELSE who planned the same thing. And he beats Slater to it. So Slater kills him, and becomes the reluctant hero.

Pretty cool premise. But very tonally strange movie.

Anyway, about 1/3 of the way through, this mystery company heavy shows up... and I'm looking at the guy... and I'm thinking "That's freaking Gullager!" But I knew it couldn't be. It just didn't make any sense. Gullager was the scaredest (sic) man on the planet BEHIND the camera. He would never step in front of it! So I go to IMDB, and sure enough... IT'S HIM. I was so baffled. And he has about 10 lines in the movie. How in the world did he get this job? Did he know someone? Actually go out on an audition?

Very strange. I'm still trying to sort all this out.

That does sound like a good idea for a movie. An interesting one at least.

As for Gullager, what ever happened to Feast? Did it go straight to DVD?

I have Feast on DVD, and it is freakin hilarious! He may not seem like much, but he did pull off a decent flick.

Anyone notice Gullager looks scarily similar to L. Ron Hubbard?

Sloppy Seconds... that boy just moved up another notch on my list! Any idea of who will be in it, when it'll get done... anything?

I can't for the life of me figure out why Feast didn't get a theatrical, could have been a break out hit if realeased at Helloween. Great movie.

It was about some guy who plans to shoot up his work...

Now, I had to slowly run the phrase "shoot up his work" in my head about 10 different times to figure out what that meant...I'm thinking shoot as in film...but the word "up" was stumping me. Then I was thinking heroin...but wasn't sure where the "work" came into play. But then I thought maybe it was a typo. Perhaps you meant to put the word "at" in between 'up' and 'his'. Again, didn't make sense. How could somebody become a hero because some other tool decided to get high in a bathroom stall first?

I went to IMDB. Ahhhh. Now I understand. And yes, great premise for a film.

Rick, sorry about that.

Well, I can't say that he did a BAD job. The first few scenes Gullager's in, he doesn't talk, and I have to admit he was interesting. Once he started talking, it became impossible not to think of Project Greenlight and the terrified little man who got kicked around by everybody. And here he was playing a position of power. So it was really odd. Kind of like watching your friends act. It's impossible not to see their little idiosyncricies you say every day. Are they doing a good job? Who knows?

Anyway, and here are some spoilers - like I said, the movie makes some strange tonal decisions, and although listed as a dark comedy, I'd say that it's more like a dark dark not-so-much-comedy. It's like if the director of Little Children got high on acid and tried to remake Office Space. Elisha Cuthbert is in it as well. She gets paralyzed in the shootout. And her and Slater develop a relationship. William H. Macy is in it too.

I will give this movie this: it never really goes where you think it's gonna go. So it should be admired for that. But that premise offered so many better ways they could've taken this. If you're bored, it's worth a rental.

lol. No apology necessary. I just found it funny when I caught myself slowly sounding it out....shoot...shooot...up....

I stopped reading your last post at the word "spoilers". I do plan to see this. It sounds very interesting!
