Their model seems interesting. They offer a digital download (DRM-free) for $x and if the viewer wants to buy the DVD they pay cost of DVD less the $x for the digital download. It allows the viewer to see if they actually like a film before buying the DVD upgrade. Interesting.

I can't sell my DVD through them as they do not handle shorts, and figuring out the math, I'd make about 29 cents on any download (versus the $8.99 i make at filmbaby for selling a DVD), but could possibly get them to go to buy the DVD if they like the film.

Has anyone had any experience with them? As soon as I asked if the DVD could be promoted on their site, they stopped correspondence. When I asked about uploading the files a few weeks later, they said their FTP was down.

Thoughts?
 
Sorry this doesn't help with your question, but every single trailer I watched on filmbaby was terrible.
 
well, i actually got a response from them. apparently they had some internal issues and are just now picking up the slack. hopefully in the next week or so things will be back on track.

yeah, i know there is quite a bit of, um, not so good content at filmbaby, but they have the best deal as far as no out of pocket money to distribute. looks like i should have gone the "on demand" route.
 
Are you talking about filmbaby or some other distributor?

I'm interested in putting my movies on filmbaby. Do they have one type of distribution? Or two? Download movie then sell it? How much do they pay for a full length feature?

When you say terrible trailers, do you mean the quality of the trailers or the content?

Has anybody had experience with filmbaby as far as payments, etc.?

Take a look at them for yourself. Content and presentation. I couldn't find one I could see anyone paying for... but maybe that could work to your advantage?
 
Filmbaby has one type of distribution. They sell the movies you send them. The only reason I decided to use them was I didn't want to deal with paypal and sending orders out (and dealing with customers in general). Filmbaby's been awesome about everything. They were accommodating when the release of the DVD was delayed, have paid every week as promised and are very responsive with questions.
