Which Follow Focus to buy!

I have a sub $1k budget and I've looked at the redrock, the indyfocuspro, and several others. I had decided on the redrock until today, when I got to talk with a guy who had one. He said his broke a couple of times and he keeps buying parts. He has an extra gearbox on standby at all times when he uses it. He suggests fork out the money for an Arri Chrosziel but my budget doesn't allow. Should I just save for a better one, or is there a tough, no slip, no play, high quality low budget follow focus out there?

I've had the redrock for over a year now and have never broken anything on it. You can get finer teeth rings and gears, which I'd recommend and if I remeber right there was some kind of upgrade I had to buy because there was a lot of play. I have a chroziel as well but I like using the redrock with the M2 and my nikon lens. As far as usage I've shot a feature film two industrial videos and dozens of commercials.

That's good to know. What size gear ring did you buy for your nikon? I will probably be ordering this tomorrow.

i can't rightfully say for the long haul how it will last, but i've been using the indyfocuspro with my m2 rig for the last 3 months and it's great for the money. very little play in the focus wheel, and it is very much a solid build. i have no doubts it's built to last.
