Oscars 2008 - Congratz longtime dvxuser James Longley again!

I was reading the list and this bit got my attention.

Best documentary short subject

“Sari’s Mother” (Cinema Guild)
A Daylight Factory Production
James Longley

It's our longtime dvxuser reader, James Longley aka jlongley, who has already been nominated for the excellent "Iraq in Fragments". 3 films and 2 oscar nominations, not bad at all. Congratulations James, we are very proud of you.

Salute,

Eduardo Serrano.

Wow. That's really great. Just goes to show you content is king, huh...

Congrats to James.

Thanks.

Later,
Jason

Super congratulations!

And as someone else said, it shows that content is indeed king. After all the hair splitting tech posts about which camera is better, this guy shows what we're all really trying to do (or should be). Kudos.

Thanks everyone ...

Thanks everyone ...

... for your kind posts!

I shot both of the nominated films (Iraq in Fragments (2007) / Sari's Mother (2008)) with the DVX100 and DVX100A cameras, just using the factory lens setup and no filters except skylight. Both films were blown up to 35mm at AlphaCine Labs in Seattle.

I've now switched to the HVX200 -- about a year ago -- and have been happily shooting with it for the last 6 months in Iran. It works fine, except the part of the camera that holds the batteries in has broken off, which I think is a common problem and a design flaw with the HVXs. Hopefully they fix this in later models (and we need bigger chips / better LCD!) -- but I have to give Panasonic credit for making excellent, wonderful cameras for us to use.

thanks again to all of y'all for the props.

Thats simply AWESOME! Very inspiring. I just added 'Iraq in Fragments' to the TOP of my Blockbuster online queue. Can't wait!

I echo everyone's sentiments. Congratulations!

(funny...whenever I hear about an amazing dvxuser's achievement I almost never recognize their handle. could it be because they are out busy shooting when i am here busy posting? man, i gotta get to it.)
