Here is a lengthy teaser for the documentary I'm working on about one of the worst movies ever made - Troll 2.

We've been working on this project now for almost 2 years and should have the film finished by the end of the summer. We have quite a bit of momentum around this doc, and as you can imagine, we are having a blast with the subject matter.

This project is quite personal to me, as I was actually the 10 year old star (18 years ago) of the movie Troll 2.

I've actually seen Troll 2 at the Drafthouse.

I have to say - for a 'teaser' it's a bit long.
I wold considering shaving it down a bit.
But it looks like a fun doc - keep us updated.
 
Wow that's fantastic. I really enjoyed the teaser but it was long. I actually forgot I was watching a teaser, but only because I'd become engrossed.
 
That was pretty good, I ignored the fact that it was supposed to be a teaser..I really enjoyed it.

I hate being technical but was there any DVX's involved in this documentary?

Who owns the rights to Troll 2?

It would be great to have a piggy back promotion where you can sell the Troll 2 DVD with your film!
 
mike, well done. i don't think the length of this "teaser" is a problem. plays more like what's called a "sizzle reel". maybe something shorter would be ideal for advertising to an audience, but you need something like this for potential distributors.
 
This teaser is actually like, amazing. I can't wait to see the final product. I have to admit I haven't seen troll 2, but want to now so badly. Really great work man. Super engaging and fun.
 
Great. I don't need to see the film now. I just saw it. I looks very good. You should half the trailer before more people feel like they saw enough not to see the whole film. Lets not call this the "best worst trailer"
 
if anyone is interested, Troll 2 is playing this Saturday afternoon, January 26th on MGMHD. i've never seen it so i've set the tivo to grab it.

is your doc scheduled to screen in LA anytime soon?
 
Ah - I just watched the trailer again, and I really can't wait. I just hope that one day someone makes a documentary about the making of "Trapped in the Closet", the DVD that sits proudly next to T2 on my shelf.
 
Awesome Michael! I live in Japan but if I can get "Motel Hell" here, I'm sure I can get Troll 2. BTW nice work with the documentary. Can't wait to see the finished product.
 
Did you edit it yourself? The editing was great.

But I agree, if your intention is a teaser, it should be shorter, since I assume it features some of the best moments in the film.
 
I just wanted to congratulate you on some excellent editing! I have no recollection of Troll 2, but you captured my attention and now I want to know more. Great work, and good luck securing distribution.

I too, am interested in whether the rights holder for Troll 2 is ok with your film? Any issues you've had to deal with/negotiate?
 
Great sizzle right there, should get in to at least one major festival for sure. My only advice, just being nitpicky here, would be to lose the fake on screen camcorder display on your parts. It is overused and wreaks of trying too hard, it doesn't need it. You want people focused on YOU as a character, your reactions, your expressions, your passion, the bad overlay is just distracting.
