Films in which cameras were destroyed

[traviscool]

I'm just wondering, what films do you know of, that cameras were destroyed in- accidentally or intentionally. One of the most famous examples of intentional camera carnage was A Clockwork Orange, however that only cracked the lens of the Newman Sinclair they chucked.

Anybody know of any other films in which camera's were smashed?

In The Island a $60,000 Panavision camera went flying past Michael Bay's head and smashed to bit.

In Sahara a Panavision was accidentally squashed by a boat.

[Matthew R. Rodwell]

Showtime shattered an XL1s on the sidewalk, made me cry because it was back when I had just bought mine lol. I think they broke a couple of them in that movie, shame too because I don't think that movie made more than the cost of a couple XL1s' lol

Just slightly off topic... what about how many Z1s were destroyed filming the discovery tv show Deadliest Catch, ouch.

At the end of Slacker, they toss a camera off the side of a mountain. Probably a Bolex.

Not sure if it was destroyed or not - but in the famous car chase sequence in Bullitt you can definitely see that one of the cameras got run into at one point.

haha, I actually got the idea for this topic from watching the special features on the Island.

I think I read somewhere that a Panavision camera was dropped into a vat of chocolate when filming Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".
