Audio inSync on Computer but Out on Tv

I haven't run into this problem before, and i am hoping that it was just the tv which i watched the video on, but for some reason when i watched the video back on a Hd Tv, the audio was off by about 3 -4 frames. At first i thought the problem was that i had moved the audio out of sync with out knowing but then watched the dvd back on my computer and the audio was fine.. Any suggestions? If it matters, my editing time base is 30 or 29.97 and my audio is 48 khz. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

This can happen sometimes if you dont send the audio to the TV, and use the computers own speakers instead. Under view, there is an option to let the audio to follow the video. If the audio is played through the computers own speakers, and the 3-4frame delay is the time it takes for the video to get through the IO and into the TV.

There is an option to send the audio to the same place as the video which should solve the problem, providing the IO is connected to a TV with sound....
 
Thank you for the help, but i am not quite sure under the "view" menu where you are talking about. Its not where you can send the audio to the fire wire, default..etc, is it?
 
Connect your speakers to the firewire device- be it camera or deck and you'll be back in sync. It takes about 2-3 frames to convert desktop playback to Firewire output. So if you connect your speakers to the computer output you'll be hearing audio that's earlier than what's on the Firewire video.

Also make sure you have on the view menu either Firewire audio or Audio follows video. It's right after view all frames, single or off.

Awesome, thanks! I just checked the audio by running through fire wire to a tv and checking the audio through the tv and everything seems to be fine, soo i hope it works! Thanks for all the help! I have a video due at 5 time! I am a procrastinator! :)
 
Man, everything was in sync when i checked audio by running through fire wire into tv, but when i burned a dvd it still seems to be a a LITTLE bit.
 
Could my problem possibly be because i have 24p footage (captured at 30) in a 30 timeline? The whole probject isnt 24p, but a couple of clips are.
 
Did you edit on a plasma screen? Plasma, digital projectors, and even LCD (but much less so) have a processing delay. A plasma display can be up to a few frames behind because of this. So if your editing AND eyeballing sync using one of these you HAVE to put some compensation in to correct or all you sound will be off. I do audio post and this has been a big issue both with projects coming from pic editors working on un compensated systems and with our work stations. THere is a product called SYNCHECK

that can tell you how far out you are. In Pro Tools there is a video offset setting that will delay the audio so your in proper sync.

This sounds like it may be the problem.
 
Hmm.. Well i watched the video back on my tv with is an older tv (non plasma or lcd) by running fire wire to cam and cam to tv and there wasn't a delay. When i watched it back on a plasma, the delay was pretty bad, possibly 6-7 frames. Then when i showed a rough draft of the video, we watched it on a lap top which was hooked up to a projector and that was off by about 3 frames. Its really weird because i have never had any problems in the past like this and i am completely stumped. Is it possible then to create a dvd which will be in sync on MOST tv's? Pro Tools.. i ve heard of it, who makes it, and would it be helpful here? Also, i just checked out SYNCHECK, and it looks to be a good product. Does it pretty much tell you if your insync and if your not you have to keep adjusting little by little until you are? Thanks again guys for sticking with me and trying to help.
