Will upload 720p Version. Don't mistake COMPRESSION for noise, please. In Short: Went out yesterday morning early to hang Pier-side and brought the camera with me. I figured I would try out a lens that I haven't been using at all.

Disclaimer: The vignetting you see is USER ERROR. I haven't been using this lens a lot, I need to figure out where I've gotta zoom to get rid of the vignetting through the actual Lens' zoom. The dark corners are USER ERROR, again, as I stopped experiencing them long ago.

Tid Bits:
This clip also shows an example of me using one of my favorite aspects of the Letus: The ability to utilize the HVX's zoom to pop-zoom or quick-zoom in and out. At about 1:45 on, I've reached the end of the 210 and have further zoomed in on the HVX. It's actually just CROPPING the image more, but seems to work similar to having the extra focal length. Works for me. Note here: I stood in the same place the entire time, so Camera never moved position.

Awesome. It's really sharp edge to edge, and thats what I hadn't been seeing in other adapters till now. Great speed ramping, wished you would've gotten some other shots though, apart from the surfing.

Very nice and sharp! I agree about the zooming ability of the LEX.

How were you able to use your Vivitar lens? I've got a LEX(Nikon mount) and some (OM Olympus)Vivitar Primes and Zooms... I read somewhere that using and adapter (OM to Nikon mount) would throw off back focus...

The Vivitar 70-210 is a Nikon mount lens. However, I do have some M42 lenses as well.

For a while, I used an adapter like what you've mentioned and back focus was off. It disallowed infinite and all sorts of things. The Letus team now has M42 mounts and I have one. Back Focus is spot on, which is GREAT.

The video posted shows:

Vivitar 28mm F2.8
Vivitar 35mm F2.8
Zeiss Jenna 50mm F2.8 Close-FOcusing
Vivitar 90mm F2.5 VMC
Vivitar 200mm F3.4

There are Vivitar lenses that are made specifically for Nikon mount. Check Ebay.

Ok, that explains everything... Thanks for the info.

Have you ever had the chance to compare your Vivitars with some Nikons, quality wise?

I want to try to do that very soon, actually. But, I want to get a friend over here with the better set of Nikons to Compare on the same unit/camera/etc.

Nothing super technical, just a "What do you see?" sorta thing. I can say that I do believe my M42 Zeiss 50mm is sharper than the Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens.

I hate to point this out, as it seems you were just testing it out, but.....why bother with the adapter at all? I think a better test would involve something that couldn't be achieved using just the camera. I mean...it's all in focus. The only reason to use the adapter would be for the shallow DOF, right?

djsmackmackey: Theres plenty of other reasons to use the adapter besides the DOF. However good stock lenses are they dont achieve the colors or highlight handling (fading gradually instead of clipping). You can get really creative with lenses as well. Each have their own look.

Kholi: Great footage! Really happy to see you can zoom full on to the LEX's GG!

The Focal Length is another reason to use an adapter. I could be wrong, but I don't think there's any way I could've gotten any closer without moving the camera to that guy from where I was standing.

So, consider being able to use 200mm+ lengths on your camera. There are definitely many other reasons to use an adapter other than Shallow DOF.

=D Learnin' the tool still myself, at first thought DOF is the only reason but that's definitely not true.

Essami: Thanks. It seems minor at first, but being able to do it does lend another creative decision to shooters. I have yet to try it in a narrative setting but will be doing so in a Music Video and a Short Film here very soon. One that I can actually SHOW since they'll be my own work. =P

Learn something every day. I haven't taken the adapter off of the camera since I got it, so admittedly I didn't even TRY.
