Good sounds/music to use with Vocoder

Hi all,

I've been experimenting with an old VO track and the Vocoding effect in Adobe Audition. I'm having a rather hard time finding a musical instrument of synth sound to make the speech clear, and sounding as a vocoder should. Pipe organs, pads, brass, I've tried just about everything I can think of. Nothing sounds right.

Any help would be great.

Nothing sounds good with a vocoder, that is why everyone stopped using them in the 80's
