Rods:a must 4 the letus?

Hi,

I have just bought a letus economy and I was wondering if rods are absolutely a must or if you can use it without it? My lenses are not heavy and I always used the brevis with no rod support, but the letus looks bigger and heavier than the brevis so I want to be sure.

Thanks,

Rafa

I would get rods. Even cheap ones. The Letus (even the Economy) will be much heavier than the Brevis. You are still dealing with a solid piece of glass in there vs. an essentially hollow tube with the Brevis.

The rods for my Letus Extreme didn't arrive until a week after my Letus. I still ran around shooting stuff, but it doesn't feel right. All I could think about is the weight hanging on my camera threads. You can get cheap Cavision rods or some IndiRails. You only need to spend $150 or so. You will spend much more than that fixing a camera that has broken its threads. It helps if you don't think of it as an 'option'. Think of it as the price of entry into the world of adapters.

How are the Letus rods? I've haven't heard much about them. I ordered my LEX and rods a couple of weeks ago, can't wait to get em.

Yes, that's what I thought. The letus rods system actually looks pretty flexible for a nice price. The cavision are cheaper but you'll end up having to buy a bunch of ad ons like lens support and so on.

I ordered cavsion rods few days ago from bh for like $170.00. These will do the job for now :). I would recomend some kind of rod system for sure.
