Building a Zaucto like handheld kit

I was looking at the Letus/Zacuto Studio Handheld Kit and I was thiking to myself that maybe I can build myself one that does not cost over $4,000. Basically I already have the IndiRails Pro system. All I need is the hand grip and shoulder pad. For those two alone, it cost $1,000 from Zacuto. So was hoping someone in here will have links to stores or sites that sells various parts to complete the hand grip and shoulder pad set. Any help is appreciated.

Take a look at HYSONFILMS.COM Joel makes a great rod system and I have been using it in a variety of situations for over a year with no problems. I added the single grip Cavision handle and I also use the Cavision shoulder mount.

mycharlie,

I got two handgrips sold as an accesorry for hand drills. I got them from a hardware store. Someone here uses hand grips for bicycles. The one i got has a threaded tip so all i have to do is thread them in my rail system.

hey i'm trying to build the exact same thing for my hvx. so far i'm trying to figure out the balance so instead of using the standard 18in rods i'm buying some 36 in rods off some industrial website:
http://www.smallparts.com/products/descriptions/lat.cfm
maybe 24in is enough. not sure yet
They dont have 15mm so i'm getting the 5/8th inch. it should work!
with the extra distance, i'm going to counter weight from behind my shoulder. (i'm going to attach my LCD battery on there)
and i'm going with the cavision should mount and grip. I'll upload pictures in like 1 week when everything is here

I tried to order from small parts, didnt get a reply from any of the emails I sent and it seemed to be going on dead ears...Did you successfully order from them twocom?

oh not sure.. i placed my order yesterday but it was a holiday.. oh and by the way my friend doesnt think 5/8in will work so if anyone knows a place that sells tubing at 3/5th of a inch or 19/32inch. that would be perfect! ok maybe i'll cancel my order on the 5/8ths and try to find something else

Why doesn't your friend think the 5/8" will work? Are you planning on making everything yourself or using accesories designed for standard rails?
