Steal this Film 2

Why would I even care?

This film is being touted on the STEAL-ME principle? What about quality and substance? Have none of that? No idea what it's even about -- why should I even care?

I, for one... PASS!

A boring documentary full of faulty logic and idiotic premises.

And not edited particularly well or at least interestingly, so not even worth talking about in that aspect. :)

A good watch with a lot to think about!
The one thing not being covered, but highly interesting for many here is - how to pay the bills when your work is being copied and freely distributed?
The documentary talks about the "new generation" being used to getting their music free from the internet (like we were used to buy records and later CDs...) and taking it for granted.
It also talks about the shift of powers, when consumers become producers.
And it says that filesharing only fullfills the very essential promise of the internet: communication without boundaries.
I´m glad that many here on dvxuser share their interlectual property and talk about making movies, I´m especially glad that this information is free and open to all.

I still don´t know how to produce movies on a shoestring budget, without sacrificing quality, content and visual appeal, though...

Yea, it had alot of things to think about, They financed the second Steal this film just from donations off the first.

It's not just a "touchy" subject, piracy, it's a forbidden one. Where did you expect this conversation to go?

Two choices: corporate sponsorship, or government sponsorship. Both of which will pretty much force you to do what the sponsors want (or just forbid you to do what you want).

So, yeah, sure, this is a wonderful thing.

My generation feels like they don't need to pay for music or movie. It's sick. I don't understand why my friends feel entitled to download music or movies. When Oink got shutdown my best friend wouldn't stop b!tching how "unfair" it was. I don't care if the site was breaking the law or not. It was wrong! I was raised to be honest. If you can't afford something, work harder. If you still can't afford it, you can't have it. Sorry for the rant.
