Which of these Nikon lenses is better?

Okay, I've looked around that site but I don't see where it mentioned the difference between these two lenses.

The AI is better for pulling focus. It's a true all manual focus as where the AF does not have as precise manual focus.

But the autofocus of the AF can be used on a nikon dslr body - double use. On more expensive dslrs, you can use the manual focus AIS. Both will produce good images on a adapter.

the AIS is built better than the more recent AF lenses (in that AF series).
The AIS's are heavier/more metal. Those AF's are plasticy and feel a bit 'cheap'. Not to take from image quality but for 35mm adapters, you do want a slightly rugged and heavier lens as it is a plus when pulling focus.

And as said, distances can be determined with more accuarcy when measuring on the earlier manual focus lens (more marks).

Another plus - most people get rid of their manual lenses to "upgrade" to autofocus, so unless someone comes up with an indi autofocus 35mm adapter then yeah, good news for us filmmakers when purchasing prime lenses =)
