hi guys,

I have a Macbook. I just recently got the Adobe CS3 package. I would like to know if it's possible to edit on FCP, while manipulating the images also using Photoshop and Aftereffects.

Thanks!
L.

Ah -- that's not what you asked was it?

hmmm, could you elaborate a little pls?
How do I know what you want imported?

007... I'm not going to go rambling off on crap you don't want to hear... so until you ask for something specific I refuse to answer your questions.

Plus - have you even read a manual or anything?

Good lord. You are spiking my POSER meter.

Nobody forces you to reply or anything, I'm simply asking a question, which I'll try to make as clear as possible:
I have Final Cut Pro 5.1. I use it to edit either SD or HD videos I shoot. I just got the Adobe CS3 package, and am looking to learn it, since I hardly know how to use it at this stage. Since I am editing my footage on FCP, I am interested to know if I can edit some of the frames, or even scenes, using After Effects and Photoshop, and then put it back in FCP. Should I just import the footage directly from my camera both to AE and FCP? What should I save / export my FCP edited footage if I want to use it with Adobe programs?

I hope that's clear enough.

Thanks.

Go back and read what you posted first before you start trashing me... I reply to people out of the goodness of my heart. No charge. I do have a consulting business if you would like to take advantage of that. Some of my clients have won very nice awards with their work.

I'm giving you advice for free. If you had asked HALF of what you just did there this wouldn't be an issue.

Ok...

So - use FCP to capture your video off of the camera. Once it is inside FCP you can send stuff as you wish to AE or Photoshop.

Clips - Put IN/OUT points in your viewer window on the clip and FILE - EXPORT - QUICKTIME MOVIE... current settings. You don't even have to have it self-contained. It can stand as a reference movie and AE will read it just fine. Then, export back to FCP with the settings you plan on editing in. DV/NTSC (PAL) 48k16bit... read up on the manual in AE to figure out how to use the render-queue (can be confusing... I'll help, but only after you read the manual).

For Photo shop... well -- you can export stills... OR - you can export an image sequence (tiffs... one for each frame) and do some batch changing in PS... though would be harder than what it is worth.

I use Photoshop for photo manipulation and for title work... AE for everything else.

I hope that gets you close to the answer you are looking for.

If you want some basic help in AE go over to http://www.creativecow.org for some tutorials... or read the manual.

Good luck,

Thanks so much. I apologize for the incoherence of my initial posting, and appreciate your reply.
Will def. read that manual and start diving into the Adobe CS3.

Liron.

Good luck.

Keep us posted. The folks over at the AE forum here are good help too... but do come with questions beyond the basic glossary -- will save you some time.

Press on.

jeez.... lighten up mench. he wasn't asking you specifically was he?

POSER meter? that's uncalled for and just plan rude. maybe next time someone's question doesn't meet your strict criteria, just move on rather than throw your frustration out there....

Ah... proving my point for me, I see.

Thanks.

Anyway -- we'll see if he comes back with...

SO... um, I how do I make those commercials just like on ESPN with AfterEffects??

Then you'll see what I mean.
