Budgeting and Scheduling software

Any recommendations as far as Budgeting and Scheduling software?
Is there an Industry standard?
Thanks!

You know, I've been wondering this as well and I did a little research but never got a real answer.

It came down to two software packages, Gorilla Pro 4 and EP Scheduling. Gorilla is pretty inexpensive, whereas EP Scheduling, depending on what package you buy, is pretty darn expensive. But both seem to do the same thing as far as I could figure out. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

When I was scheduling my movie, I used EP. I couldn't afford to buy it so I used the demo version. It was fully functional but the trial limited the number of uses. So I just opened and kept it open until I was done with the movie, thereby using only one of trials.

Btw, I highly recommend EP. It is very intuitive but very powerful. It works with tagged FD files for breakdowns which is very convenient.

I'm currently using Gorilla. I expected it to fall short in some way because of the price. But so far I love it. My only gripe is limited number of computers you can use it on. But I like how it deals with budgeting, breakdowns and scheduling all in one package. It also works with FD files.

I use EP Scheduling for my shoots. It works really well with Final Draft and Final Draft Tagger. Excellent breakdowns.

It's a tad pricey though. You might consider the trial version to do it. I believe you have 20 uses before it dies on you.

I know Blaine uses Gorilla and he swears by it. :)

And really, who would argue with that? :beer:
You guys crack me up...:grin::grin::grin:

Yes, I use it and love it. It works with both FD7 and MM breakdowns. The Scheduling and Budgeting modules are fairly easy to use. Jim is right. If you order one copy, that's what you get. Multiple copies require a special "producer's package". So far, I haven't need that.

I'm currently working on an episodic project that we want to budget out in several scenarios...this is right up Gorilla's alley.

Every discipline in the filmmaking process has their tools. I believe for the independent filmmaker (read Producer/UPM/1st AD) this is the tool.
