That viewfinder is the JVC VF-P115 from JVC DV-500 and is available from BH - if anyone need the Pinout- let me know

it monochrome and has enough resolution for me to focus, not a marshall but works well

not on this model viewfinder, it does not have the peaking option. But when I try to focus with the viewfinder, the focus it is spot on with the peaking I have on the lcd.

It is strange that the peaking does not go to this viewfinder, but with a 5.6 tft screen, the peaking does show up?

but never the less, it is a better mod than the EVF

I'm looking to modify this viewfinder to fit our Panasonic HVX-200 camera for use with the Red Rock M2 adapter. I have one that works on the JVC camera, but I need the pinout to be able to re-configure for the HVX. Can you give me the pinout info?

Thanks!

Looks interesting... but...

Not sure about the inner workings of the A1, but if it resembles any prior canon camcorder, there's a "main fuse" located out of user reach that blows rather easily. On the XL2, there was a HUGE problem with the fuse blowing randomly, and even more so with people using the upgraded viewfinder.

Just a heads up... it may be worth looking into before you're hit with a rather costly repair.

I did a quick google search, but didn't come up with anything as far as if the A1 has the main fuse like their other lineups...

Why the external VF, with external power source, might blow any cameras fuse ?

As i understand, it just like connecting an external monitor to video output....

I have no idea why... you'd have to ask canon on that one, but it happens. Other people have blown the fuse just by plugging in the stock mic.

Mine blew on my XL2 for absolutely NO reason at all. One minute it worked fine, I turned the camera off for an hour or so, came back and it wouldn't turn on. No hotplugging or anything like that... it just blew (pun).
