So i just started inporting my files from my original P2 files into FCP using the log and transfer option. I logged a bunch of clips and then tried added them to my queue which FCP then automatically imported them into my browser as mov files. The 2nd time i did this, FCP did NOT add them to my browser and instead gave me a red stop sign with an exclamation point in the middle next to each file in my queue. shown here:

I have my P2 files backed up on a second hard drive so I thought that maybe the hard drive was just being testy so I tried importing from the other one and it let me import a few files and then did the same thing again.

The files get saved to my cappture scratch folder as unknown files.

has anyone ever had this problem and or/ fixed this problem before?

help

In the P2 Browser...the upper left window...click on the Sprocket drop down menu. Choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN.

Try again.

ahhh... yes. thank you, I will try that today and see what happens.

how can I avoid having to do this in the future? The last time I shot with the P2 system i shot in 720p and didnt have this problem but this time I shot 1080i 24p.

also, if i remove the pulldown, is there anything i need to do to the footage after it is brought in to avoid further problems and will the footage that actually did get imported already have problems if i do not re-import it with pull down removed?

thanks for the tips.

ok ladies and gents,

so i attempted re-importing with the pulldown removed in every fashion, and it did not work. sheesh, this seems like a rather huge bug in the final cut saga.

i will try and shorten the file names today. thank you for the tip.

anybody else? ...haha
