The IndiMatte...Resistance is futile

I saw some prototype photos of the new IndiMatte from Tim at IndiFocus. This is going to be awesome for the price point.

Do you have a link to any photos or info about this? I've been looking, and there doesn't seem to be anything on their site yet.

There is no info on the site. Out of respect for Tim I would rather not post the non powder coated - prototype looking photo. As soon as I get a pic of the final I will post.

Just got off the phone with Tim. He sounds ecstatic about the IndiMatte. Can't wait for it - might just have to take the plunge!

you jerk! I have a secret to tell, everyone come and click on my thread.

oh, but,, i can't show you... TEASE! lol

I'll be waiting for a comparaison between the indiMatte and the microMattebox from RedRock before taking the plunge. My hopes are pretty high for the microMattebox...

Was talking with Tim yesterday, and he mentioned some really cool features. Most noteworthy to me was the swing away feature with snap lock/unlock mechanism.

I'm willing to bet it will cost less than the micromattebox, which is already competetively priced. From the sounds of it, it doesn't seem like its designed from the ground up like RR, but it looks like it will have a couple unique features. Regardless, it will be great to have another affordable swing away mattebox to choose from.

WHAT?? 350? thats it??? whats the catch.. is it made out of pipe cleaners??? tightly coiled plastic milk bags?

Papa, think its gonna be another vocas hybrid, which im cool with. I just got Cinevate's MB, and while Im happy with it, the features and pricepoint of the indimatte would have had me rethinking my purchase.

At this price point, this is great news for everyone. I remember reading many threads on "why are matteboxes so expensive?" Now it looks like we'll have some good ones (hopefully) to choose from that are affordable.

Trudd, you sure about $350? When i talked to him, it sounded like it could be $399. But yeah, definitely not more than $400 from the sounds of it.

Another feature Tim is looking to provide with the indiMATTE: interchangeable mattes. Not definite but something he says he'd like it to have. Guess we'll have to wait and see what is finalized.

When's Tim gonna finish the shoulder mount that's previewed on his site? I emailed him about it and a bunch of other questions and got no email back.

I just prototyped the Indibrace on a shoot with ABC's Extreme Makeover home edition. It was great. For Camera only. Tim is developing some new brace stuff for rails and 35 millimeter adapters. But if you want a rock solid shoulder mount for your small format camera it was very cool.

it would be great if Tim made something like the DVRig Pro HD thing, with the belt and pole and all. It seems like you'd need that support for doing handheld with rails/adapter/ff/mb, etc.

Hm. Could be. Tim was holding the prototype as we were on the phone, and he was talking 90 miles per hour! Sure wish I could've replayed that conversation.
