PP2 Kills my ACER - what can I try?

Hi,

Adobe Premiere Pro 2 simply crashes on startup with my works Acer Travelmate 5620 with Centrino Duo processor.
It begins to start - but then just dumps to a black screen and restarts the entire machine...Windows tells me it has recovered from a "serious error"

It is not kidding!

This crash occurs either as Premiere begins to load...or pretty much immediately after it has loaded.

Fixes tried:

Installing different Graphics Drivers from Acer sites.
Updating Win XP Pro
Reinstalling entire Adobe Production Studio Premium.

I am now out of ideas...what on earth can I try? What would you do?

My last resort is reinstalling Win XP Pro.

Any suggestions at all greatly appreciated!!

Machine:
Acer Travelmate 5620
Centrino Duo machine with Geforce Go 7300,
Win XP Pro
1 Gig Ram.

1 Search the internet for possible similar problems with the same laptop.
2) Do not install any other graphic Driver then the one it is recommended by Acer for the specific laptop.
3) Reinstalling Win is probably the way to go.

best
Andreas

Hi

Do you have all the updates to XP?

Is your RAM good? You likely have two 512 sticks, take out one and see if it will boot up.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies and suggestions! Actually found (through Creativecow.net) that this issue often happens in Premiere because of the audio driver. (AC97)

Anyway I download/reinstalled the audio driver and Premiere hasn't skipped a beat now!

Fantastic. Thanks again.
