HELP!!! Capturing AVCHD CANON HG10 to FCP?

I had purchased 2 Canon HG10 AVCHD cameras for a live concert. I was under the gun and needed 2 more HD cams so I went to Best Buy, LOL and purchased 2 of these camcorders to only find out that capturing to a MAC system is not a walk in the park. I am prepared to take them back for a full refund, but before doing so I would like to know if anyone knows how to get FCP to log and capture footage from this camera. I'm sure I will have to upgrade to FCP 2 of course which I was planning to do anyway, but right now I need a one time solution so that I can retreave the footage I shot which looks awesome by the way.

Thanks

The only solution is upgrade to the very latest update of FCP. There's no other support for that camera.

Sure there's always something that can come up but I say for you this is an essential.

I just attempted to Log and Transfer, but nothing. Its as if FC doesn't even recognize the camera. My Mac Book acknowledges the camera is connected, but the files are not accessible. FCP 6s Log and Capture comes up blank with not options for importing from the camera (Canon HG10) source.

Ar you using a PowerPC Mac or Intel. I read something about AVCHD only working on intel machines.

Nothing is working. I updated FCP 6 to 6.0.2 and still nothing. This is really annoying. I am hoping its something I'm doing but now I don't think so. If anyone have Logged and Transferred from the Canon HG10 to FCP 6.0.2 please tell me how you executed it.

hello,

i just bought an hg10, and i was trying to do some research on removing the pulldown an di found this thread.

i have imported successfully. shot 24p, connected camera with USB cable, put it in PLAY mode, drive pops up on computer. then in fcp 6.02 (all new updates installed), log and transfer, all the clips showed up immeadiately, then transfered! it was fairly quick. the only problem right now is removing the pulldown....

using a macpro intel.

-are all updates installed?
-camera in play mode?

-still no luck?>
