its fixed baby!!!! And it's on tonight

BTW =By the Way....In Redding....Humboldt is great...Was there yesterday

Hey guys, it was great chatting about the system. I could go on for hours about it really, I hope people walked away with a better understanding of what the mod really does, etc...

As for XLUT, its a cool program, and it will show you what LUTS are, which are essentially photoshop like curves. If you want to really look at the files, open them up in a text editor, and you can see a numerical view. The curve is just a user friendly thing to look at really.

As for the signal processing thing, something worth mentioning....

You could have a much cleaner DV image right out of the camera if they just made some adjustments to how they handle the signal prior to the compression, but then again, the conspiracy theory about cheaper cameras looking just as good as expensive ones rises... LOL.

Thanks again, and if I were to hope for one thing it would be that Panasonic bought the technology to tie up Juan's loose end, because they would be considering making this standard into the HVX/DVX or maybe a future model. Think about what a great feature that would be; the ability to choose between using the camera 'as is' for freedom and convenience, or tether to a computer for a data stream which could deliver more. I bet it would cost much less then Juan, because it would be implemented in the manufacturing process, not poor Juan doing open heart surgery on each model.

Think about the Canon XL-H1. The poor H1 is the last of the titans clinging to tape based media, and sadly in order for users to shoot footage with that of the camera's potential one must use the HD-SDI output and take a large data stream into a computer or capture device. (1.5 gigabits/s?)

So in order to avoid the H1's HDV signal and get back to square one, a tethered camera is in order using a large data stream.

If Panasonic would implement the Andromeda/Hydra technology into it's camera's, it would be much like the previous example of Canon's H1 except instead of going from 'mediocre to great' (HDV to HD-SDI HDoutput), a Panasonic User could have 'great to amazing' (DVCProHD to Uncompressed 2k or 1080p 4:4:4)

Now I know this is highly unlikely and some might think offering this on an HVX or likewise camera would discourage p2 workflow, but I can dream... can't I?

PS: I also know the HD-SDI output process is much different from the technical process of a hydra technology, but there is a big similarity in workflow as far as being tethered to a capture device while managing a much larger uncompressed data flow from camera. (HD-SDI output still has compression though just a sh*t ton less then HDV)

And I am still upset on not being able to get a Hydra from Juan, because you know what? He puts something into every camera that no manufacturing process ever will, and that is a little bit of love.
:)
