FCP external monitor problem

Robbie Comeau

Como's back. back again
Hey...

I edit in FCP, and on a double screen. I usually hit f12 to get my video to go full screen on my dual monitor. Now final cut is saying it dosn't recognize the double mintor, therefore i cant edit in full screen.

My friend was playing around with my settings in order to get a video to print to tape, coud have this caused it?

What can i do?

Thanks

View menu... External Video... somewhere down there it will let you choose your second monitor as source for monitoring.

He changed it to FW to print to tape.... change it back.

Good luck,

Honestly -- I never do this. SO... let's get some stuff cleared up.

1st you trashed your preferences?

2... So the second monitor works as a second desktop for you still?

3... so when you look here: http://homepage.mac.com/captmench/Playback.png

You get [missing] Digital Cinema Desktop Secondary????

Did you try refreshing your A/V Devices? Maybe try unplugging the FW camera and then refresh... see if it toggles it back on as an option.

i get None, and missing, but i dont get that last one (digital cinema desktiop)

Did you trash your preferences?

Did you toggle thru those options of none... and refresh AV Devices??

Man, this is worse than chess by snail-mail.

Open it up and hit TRASH.

Then, when you get your settings all straight in FCP and you like the way things are -- open it again and use BACKUP... then, when they go corrupt again just use RESTORE.

Isn't there a readme text with that?

Hey, this program isn't working. I did what you said, and it still says it can't find my second monitor, and no there isn't a read me.

Well... not really sure.

I'd shut down and unplug everything for 15 minutes.

Then, I'd repair prebindings and possibly zap the pram.

I'm not really sure the permissions would account for this... but it never hurts to do it once a week regardless.

Applications/Utilities/DISK UTILITY is the app you are looking for.

Open it up and make sure the FIRST AID button is selected. Then, click on your system disk name... not the FACTORY's name... and select REPAIR PERMISSIONS.

Good luck,

No no... part of the standard maintenance you should be doing anyway.

BTW - did you try shutting down and unplugging?
