Overall Style vs. Individual Shots

Kind of a broad question, but does anyone here have any tips on how to walk the line of making a project lit with a consistent style, yet not seem repetitive?

Example, always lighting close-ups the same way, using certain kinds of lights, using certain diffusion, ect...

Thanks.

Light the environments first, then light subject. A 3-point lighting setup will look like a 3-point lighting setup.

Since all environments will be different, your lighting will differ from location to location, but the overall style will be similar.

If the same guy is lighting each shot you'll get what you're after in consistency... the changing environments will take care of the repetition... and if the DP is any good he can make all the difference in the world when it comes to changing it up while the lighting stays consistent.

Having two cams isn't necessary, but it goes a long way in making interviews more interesting... I consider cam2 the experimental shots cam. Watch any current interviews and you'll see that this style is getting kind of common now.
