Follow focus and matte box for Letus Extreme

Hey guys,

I have the Letus Extreme and I use the Cavision RS-15IIM(250) Rod Support System to hold it better.
After the first tests I noticed I really need a follow focus and eventually a matte box.
What are my options? Without going broke?
Can I extend my cavision system? Their website doesn't make any sense.

well, for starters you will need to do one of two things

1) raise the camera and adapter so that a mattebox will fit properly. It will have to be heightneed anwhere from 2-3 inches.

2) flip the letus upside down and invest in a dual rail setup.

Hi Berlin:

Most of your questions are answered in this thread.

The general consensus seem to be that if you can afford it, the Vocas matte box is excellent. If you can't, the Cinevate or Red Rock Micro matte boxes both seem to be excellent for around U.S. $500.00

Follow focus seem to all have ardent fans for each of the brands. If you are on a tight budget, IndieFocus. If you can spend more, the Red Rock Micro or Cavision are pretty good.

You will need longer rails and to elevate your camera. There are a variety of ways to elevate it from Cavision, Zacuto and soon from the Le brothers.

You should check out this thread, http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=114048 there are several pictures of rigs. Mine is on page 9 of the thread. I have the Cavision mount, 18 and 24" rails, Red Rock FF, Cinevate Matte Box and so far, I am very happy with each of them.

Zacuto is probably the best stuff out there but it is pretty expensive, you get what you pay for. If you can afford a couple of thousand for the rails, mounts, handheld grips, off sets and monitor mounts, I would buy Zacuto. If you cannot afford that, you will have to piece your system together like all of us are.

Best,

Dan
