As you may guess this is my first greenscreen project (just fur fun). My cousin and I started making it about two years ago and finished it this summer
I can consider bit a short film because this is the first time I do some kind of preparation.
The storyline is really well laid but I was just shooting for effcts (didn't bother about the story).

I used a cheap handycam (there are also two shots filmed with a xl-1), a 12'x11' greenscreen and some worklights.

Here is the link quicktime 140mb duration 10m

ps. the film in spanish (but not much dialogue)

Your keys are pulled pretty cleanly, but the cg environment looks too fake to really sell the final shot, and the lighting doesn't always quite match either.. The animation was to rigidly keyframed too.. But, I applaud your effort. Keep working on projects. :)

yes you are right i'm not a 3d guy (at this moment) just basic stuff , i was trying to learn how to pull greenscreens (most of what I know comes from this great board).

Thanks for the comment.

effcts project

effcts project

this is an effects project that we did before filming the long one.
(keep in mind that this was my first ever attempt to special effects).

I mainly used a sony dcr-hc14e
In some shots i was able to use a canon xl-1
and in other shots i used another camera that I can't remenber at this moment but it was like the dcr-hc14e one

liked the project pretty decent
2 questions
what did you use to key out the green screen (program and plug in )

and also what paper did you use to filter the construction lights.

thanks for your interest

I mainly used After fx's keylight for the greenscreen, and I got to use apple shake for some rotoscoping work. If you follow the link for my second greenscreen project, which is in my sig, you'll get a better explanation of the way I key footage.

For the construction lights I used tracing paper(which is cheaper than frost, silks or white diffusion gels. You have to be very careful not to have it exposed for too long or it can get burnt. This was about two years ago, now I would use some kind of stand (possibly a mic stand, cheap und effective for gel holding) to separate the paper from the light.

Hope this helped.
