I've made some pretty basic menu's in DVD Architect, and I really want to know how to create transitions between menus.

I did a search in the contents & index and found it saying:

Drag the transition media file from the Media Explorer (or Windows Explorer) to the root folder in the Project Overview window. Dragging a file to the root folder adds the media to your project without creating a button on a menu.

What exactly is the transition media file? Is this something I have to create in Vegas and import over to Architect?

Basically my menu has a picture of the main character on left frame and the text, play, chapter select, and set up on the right frame. When you hit any of them, I want to character image to leave the off the left side and I want the text to leave on the right side (or drop down off frame).

I like that insta-response...very nice. I do have two other questions then:

My DVD menu is on 720x480 widescreen and has black bars on the top, if I want my transition to contain the black bars on the top as well and not cut into 4:3, am I going to need to create the transition on a widescreen timeline in Vegas?

Also, how am I going to get the images to appear exactly with those in my Architect file? Am I going to just have to guess as closely as I can and then correct their positions in Architect?

Not sure if you have sorted this out yet, but this is what I do....

Create your background media in vegas or AE, so your menu will now be a video ( say 10 sec with a loop point) then start the next menu's background with the last frame of the previous menu, insert your new menu media with a transition (on the vegas timeline). in DVD Arch make sure that your loop point of the second menu is set after the transition.

so when you click the button it'll go straight to the next menu but that menu starts with the transition. you can also then animate your buttons in at the same time.

hope that make sense.

let me know
Nick
