Actually, what Como described in his scene might actually be closer to schizophrenia anyway. Seems like a pretty good hallucination to me.

Seriously, Como -- you don't have to do ALL things. Instead of trying to come up with an idea or write a script, find a website like www.simplyscripts.com and read the unproduced scripts there. Find one you like and think you can do well, then talk to the writer and see if he or she will let you take a stab at producing it.

Thanks chapelgrovefilms, for being the ONLY person in this thread tio help out. I wouldn't mind at all if the mod could delete everyone else's posts, maybe even this whole entire thread. I get complained and bitched at all the time from MODS, saying i post to much, and there Useless posts. I can agree to that, but MODS, why dont you hassle these people? There not helping me? There just doing some simple hating, and there not helping me at all. I hope everyone in here gets a PM, saying "You have a refraction. You have one point," Cause that's exactly what i got, for doing what YOU people do.

Now i no one likes me on this forun, (maybe some.)
and i probably just made it worse for writing that up there^, but i really could care less.

You might want to re-read the posts, while some may not be helpful, I can guarantee I was trying to be helpful with my post.

While I didn't give you ideas for your script, or write it for you, I tried to give you some important information that a lot of people aren't aware of regarding schizophrenia. Most people hear the word and immediately think split personality, that's not the case.

I was attempting to be helpful by providing "research" material for you.

Oh, and by the way, I am a mod ... so we don't always complain.

Dude, we are trying to help you out. Go back and read what you have written, and then what the repsonses have been. Was there anything wrong with a poster suggesting you get to know what you are writing about? Is there any harm in trying to get you to mind your spelling? These things will make you a better writer, and will help you to be taken seriously.

Did you check out any forums for writers? Any sites that deal with story tips and script support?

More than one person suggested getting a writer. Why not try that? Team up with someone and have some brainstorming sessions.

I don't think anyone on here doesn't like you, it's just when a guy comes on here and says he has an idea but can't finish it, admits he got idea from somewhere else, and posts some writing with subject and spelling errors and then asks for help, it seems kind of lazy.

Like I said before, if you would just apply yourself a bit and learn some essential skills, you'd be well on your way.

There has to be a reason you're called a Non-Searching Member...

Come on guys. I don't mean to cause friction, but I have to admit that this response came across to me as sarcastic and condescending, bordering on being insulting. This probably put Como in exactly the wrong frame of mind when reading the posts which followed.

He's just trying to get into this business. Let's cut him a little slack. You guys are absolutely right to advise him about doing research, finding writers, and other useful info to help him take the bull by the horns and forge his own way. Just have a little patience -- he'll get up to speed in time.

You need to go back and read the posts again. Both of those statements (...Every person in here...) and (...You all just posts about how...) are 100% incorrect. I know for sure my post did not refer to either comment, and I'm confident if I re-read the posts that others did not either.
 
Alright - I will fully admit that some of the posts (mine, for example) were a bit offsides.
For that, I do apologize. What I should have said was something constructive and civil, like "In all honestly that idea sounds a bit derivative to me so maybe you can think of a way to present it in a new way or take it in an original direction." But, instead I was a bit of a smartass about it. Fair enough.

However, can you really blame us? No offense, because you know I have tried to help you, Como, but this is (I think) the third idea you've asked for "help" on. The last few times you had people help you they put some real time and effort into it and you then decided to just drop the story all together.

Trust me, I've been there and I know what its like when you're starting out - feeling out ideas and dropping them is all a part of finding your own voice and your own approach. I'm not telling you that you should pursue every idea you have. But the difference is when I was working on concepts that I would later abandon, I didn't ask (or expect) other people to put their time and effort into it.

This site, and these people, are an incredible resource.
But you will only get out of it what you put into it.

I mean this in all sincerity - you have no idea how much I envy your enthusiasm.
I really do - because I feel like mine is waning after years of working.
So don't loose that enthusiasm.... but just try to balance it with a little more focus, research, and respect.

Obviously, this is just my two cents.
Feel free to take it or leave it.
 
I don't think i have had a post on here, being a dick to someone. I think i have always tried to hel as much as i can. And when i tell the person, who is asking a faulty questin, sure ill tell him to use the search function, and what not, but then i help him in the end...i dont no, im done postin' here.... peace

edit, thanks luis. And yes i no that this site is a huge help. Thats why im on here literaly more than 10 hours a day. Its full of sweet stuff, an i have learned SO much here.

I sure hope, by this comment, that you are not trying to imply that everyone treats you poorly and no one has offered any help. Because that is how the statement comes off, and if that's what you're saying then you are WAY OFF BASE.
 
No no, thats why i am gettnig better with my soon to be, hopefully, career. You guys are a great help. Then sometime, you can be compelte no helpful people.. i don't know..

Maybe you should start coming up with endings and work backwards, as sometimes you seem to have a vague idea for a flick and lose your way. Not saying it's not good to write yourself into a corner (Coen bros do it) but just something different to try.

I have been trying to think of an idea for you but nothing's coming to me, will post something later.
 
Good idea tmnt. I actually just finished reading a great book that uses that a variation of that very technique for story development. The book is titled: "Writing A Great Movie" by Jeff Kitchen. But be warned ... if you think we are hard on undeveloped/unprofessional script pages, we are like Sunday School teachers compared to what you can expect over there at times ... but that said, you can (and I have) learn a tremendous amount there about screenwriting.

Yeah I think the best thing you can do for yourself is to check out the links/books that Larry just mentioned. Sure we can feed you ideas all day long for stories but learning to develop your own is where its at. Or buying them from someone else. But you've got the drive and desire to write so I say learn how. I dont have the drive or desire so I hire it out. Teach a man to fish... blah blah blah. Me I just buy someone elses fish. Fishing bores me.

there you go! There's a reason google is my homepage. I want a t-shirt that says that btw. Google on my brother! I've also become a big fan of the wikipedia. Como I will bestow upon you my searching secret (that I'm pretty sure many others here use too) - google search the dvxuser site instead of using dvxuser's search. much faster and doesnt have all the little restrictions like no words with 3 letters or less. Any more I rarely even have to ask questions here, because almost all of the ones I have are already answered. Pretty convenient if you ask me.
 
Hey Larry I just purchased that ebook from TotallyWrite through paypal and it says approximately 4 days till it's cleared and I can download?! Woulda been quicker if he sent me the hardcover, lol.
