New footage from shipping version of Extreme

Thank for the effort, You are truly a saint. You effords are selfless. Thank you very much for the work...

I like to comment that it looks nice and have very good edge sharpness. However there is still some glow and ghosting on some really bright areas. What you do you think is the cause? The Ground glass might not be so perfect after all.It looks like the Letus Extreme has a combination of insufficient diffusion and/or light interacting with the G.G. The G.G seems to be not coated, so that is why we are seeing ghosting and flaring.

Do you have that kind of glow and ghosting with the lenses with your old Letus Enhanced ?

I saw what you were talking about in one of the other posts, but I don't see it here. Do you have any grabs from your Brevis or other adapters to compare contrast?

You were'nt kidding when you said this thing was edge-to-edge. Joy.

Can you tell me what music that is?

The footage is great, as usual.

The shot with the light, the one from outside to inside through a window, and also the pan shot of the table, there are a few spots at the back that shows the glow around the bright areas.

meh, i like the glow around those areas. video has a hard enough time with higlights, this gives it a softer blow out :) works for me@!

DavidChia,

I may be looking at this differently but what I'm seeing is consistent with highlights on film or even some higher end video lenses - Stuff is blowing out but I'm not seeing anything, including the glow that would be considered abnormal in any of Disjecta's footage. In fact I just pulled up the film Big Fish and in the interior circus scenes all of the color lights hung display the same glow when in the Bokeh of the shot - I guess I'd need to see more of what you're apparently comparing the Extreme footage too before I even consider the footage show thus far to be problematic.

p.s. Disjecta, thanks so much - great footage and quick turnaround!

thanks disjecta. I can't see any glow problem in the bokeh and image quality is (keeps being) pretty impressive.
Looking forward to pairing LEX with hv20...

I don't see how anyone could call these images sharp edge to edge. I would call it soft edge to edge. It looks like a diffuser was used all the time.

If you want to show a job you did and you manipulate it to get that feel then it would be fine. To show the capabilities of the adaptor this clip is not doing it justice.

If you have seen the demo called homework then you know what I am talking about. It was made by the same person with the same camera with the 1st version of the adaptor.

I don't think that there is something wrong with the finished adaptor. I just think that this is not the best quality image that has come out of it.

Another cinematographer friend of mine and I were talking about the demo made with HVX on the Letus page. The one with the HVX looked really soft compare with the Homework one. I own both cameras and I know that the HVX has a very nice image but the clip wasn't the one I would use as a demo for a product.

If was the manufactures of any of these adaptor I would be more careful of the demo I would put on my page.

My friend owns the M2 but when he saw what the Extreme could do, he order one that day.

We know enough about what make a good image to understand that what makes these images soft has more to do lighting than the adaptor it self.

What happens is that many beginners looking for a camera+adaptor would get the wrong idea.

Just my .02 cents plus .01 for the gas price adjustment.

EDITED: I am refering to HVX image on the Letusdirect.com of the walk through the grass.

Thanks for all the comments.

Douglas, as a member of a marketing team I can tell you that to publish high production quality footage as a demo for this adapter would also be misleading in the same way you characterize others not getting an accurate picture from my footage.

It is very easy to make footage look great, even using a Handicam if you have the right equipment but when Joe Public buys the camera and shoots grandpa with the sun shining in the camera lens and wonders why it doesn't look like the demo on the Web site, he gets frustrated and wants his money back or quits shooting.

I have shot many different pieces using the Extreme and I think they represent a lot of different shooting circumstances and situations. I submit that this variety is giving a broader audience more of a realistic sense of what the adapter could do in their low budget hands.

I really appreciate your point of view but I don't agree with all of it.

The bokeh looks like a donut. I read somewhere (trying to remember the referrence) that this is generally considered bad bokeh.

Please correct me if I'm wrong :(

Then why are you even posting in this thread? Are you referring to Disjecta's A1 footage? Do I need a new set of eyes or something?
