Shoulder support for DVX/XHA1 with SGpro

Yes. "Pimp-my-cam" threads! That'd be a great contest. Who has the most pimped out camera... you'd have to limit/judge it to/by specific cameras. (Wouldn't want a RED user winning right of the bat)! Then the winner would get a free trip to NAB or something like that. Everything considered, 35mm DOFA, lenses, shoulder mounts, rails, follow focus, matteboxes, etc. etc. etc.

Hehe, Im in :beer:

Do you have to modify the output, or is it simple wireing?
Are you driving everything on the rig from the gel battery?

It's just wiring so far... But these days I am working on a converter box that allows me to run the whole rig (marshall lcd, hvx, m2 adapter and even a small 2,5" harddrive to dump footage) with the battery

About Zacuto, considering the handgrips alone are already 750$, and since my maximum budget is 500$, I doubt he'll give me that much of a discount..

Hm,
I use the MultiRig with the SGpro, it is OK for adapter work (with a plain HVX it works like a charm...) and sub 500$...
You might also want to check the other rigs from DVtec...

Are the cavision extended grips and shoulder pad better in your opinion or not? It is a bit cheaper though no counterweight.

I've seen people with their own counterbalances. Velcroed on even. I think you just have to pick... quality or counterbalances.

The shoulder pat must be better, since the MultiRig doesn´t have one - this is also the weak point of the Multirig IMHO, but it´s all about size with this unit, they have other ones with a soulder pat aswell...

What I like about the MultiRig is the shock absorbing pole supporting the front-heavy setup.

I have that for my M2 setup;

What do you do about monitoring your footage with that setup?

I really like that setup.

I am torn between building my support system around my rails like you did, or getting a DVTek PRO HD rig. Once I add all of the pieces (grips, shoulder mount, support pod, etc) it starts to add up to the price of the PRO HD rig.

Also, I wonder if that monitor tends to bounce around being at the end of that arm.

Decisions.....
