AVID Media Composer to Final Cut Studio 2

Need some advice - I am at a post house working on a Media Composer and I need to take all the media to a Final Cut studio 2 system. I do not need the sequences, which are very basic - I just need to edit with the media. It is 250GIGS of HDV that has been digitized as AVID .omf DV25.. Questions:

1- can I just bring the 250GBs of AVID OMF files to the FCP system, download the AVID codec and expect to edit with this media in a FCP 6 project?

2- should I export all the omf files to Quicktime DV and let it run overnight?

3- Automatic Duck is primarily for complex sequences, right? I am starting over with the sequences so do not need them

any advice is appreciated

The OMFs ought to import into Final Cut Pro okay. But I would certainly do a few test runs first before leaving the Avid and just assuming life will be good.

You can not just download and Avid codec for FCP and edit with the Avid media files. It doesn't work like that. No way Avid would ever allow that.

Exporting it all out to Quicktime files w/ the DV codec is certainly a time killer, but ought to play pretty nice with FCP. Again though, do a test before you simply just walk away from the Avid. Last thing you need is to assume it will work, do it, and then find its not working and start messing up your deadlines.

Automatic Duck is certainly another option you can use. I've never used it, but I hear the latest versions are quite good at moving between the NLEs. Check out their web site for all the software specs.

cheers.
