Recording in Lots of Background Noise

Most of the video jobs that I have been working on have been in areas that tend to have allot of background noise. These events are mostly at race tracks so there tends to be the noise of cars drive and engines reving up. The next few videos that I have to shoot will require interviews with the drivers and other people during/after the races. I'm trying to figure out a way to conduct these interviews with as little background noise as possible.

I was watching NASCAR over the weekend and listening to the interviews that they were doing. You can barely hear the background noise that is going on around them. I figure if they can record without terrible background noise that I should be able to find an acceptable way.

Does anyone have any suggestions on mics to use?

I'm currently shooting with a DVX-100 and a SGM-1000 Super Cardiod Shotgun Microphone

good placed lavs do great job. I had many projects where background noise was just terrible grass cutters and planes but dialogs was much hotter and clearer when using lavs.
