I am building the dark passage dolly from the Killer Camera Rigs book. I have all the materials and Im going to start tonight. I should be done tomorrow. Ill post pics and let you guys know how it goes. Im gonna need some smooth dolly shots if I want to have a chance in the hallows fest.

Where did you find the corner brackets? I found some at Home Depot. They were a little different then the ones in the book, but should still work the same. I'm order the wheels next week and probably get to build mine next weeked depending on how quickly I get the wheels.

I found the l brackets at home depot too and they are different. They are not square like the picture there is one longer end than the other but should work ok. Home Depot sucked for supplies for me. I only got the plywood and l brackets, and I will be getting the pvc pipe from there. I got everything else from a small local hardware store. I actually got the wheels from Walmart on a pair of roller blades. I had to stop there before going to Sports Authority, where I was going to pay 30 bucks for 8 wheels and bearings. In Walmart I checked Sporting goods and they had a pair of blades on clearance for 18 bucks with decent wheels and abec 5 bearings so i bought them and took the wheels off. I am putting together the whole thing tonight and Im going to get the tracks tomorrow when its all done. i should have some pics and comments later though, it seems like it should go pretty well. hopefully.

Yep, got the same brackets, longer on one leg than the other. I wouldn't see any reason why they wouldn't work just as well. I went that route when building my old dolly. It used 16 skateboard wheels so I went to Walmart and bought the 4 cheapest skateboards they had and used those wheels. What size plywood are you using for the base? I have another dolly that's 2' by 4' so I'm planning on making this one smaller for tighter areas or for when I don't feel like lugging the other one around.

Im using a 2x2 piece for now but once i see how everything goes I will probably get a few different sizes and swap out the wheels when needed. I got jammed tonight. I lined everything up and drilled the holes in the plywood for the wheel bracket assembly and then when i tried to put it together I realized I bought lock nuts with a different thread size than my bolts. Im an idiot, i will have to get the right ones in the morning and finish it up.

The dolly went very well. It only took about an hour and a half and most of that was because I had a smaller drill bit than I needed and had to mess with it to get it right. I have pics and I will upload footage when I get the pipe for tracks.

Yeah they worked great. Ill post some pics now and then Ill get the tracks tomorrow and show some test footage.
