Hi guys,

I´m a new member of this comunity. My name is Anibal and I´m from Argentina.

I´m looking for a low cost hi end solution for adding a circular polarizer to a DVX-100b and still using the anamorphic lens.

I have an Hoya polarized lens 72mm, but when I add the anamorph I louse the possibility to add it. How can I use both?

Another solution may be looking for square lens filters 4inch. The logical way is with a matte box. But I´m not sure if that is the only way, and also I´m not sure about the compatibility of all the parts.

Can you help me?

Thanks a lot.

Anibal

Yeah a matte box is probably your best bet. If you put the polarizer behind the adapter then you'll get vignetting.

Like 3 or 4 years ago when I was a total noob I didn't realize this was a problem till I got on set. So I rigged it with bungie cords,.. nice huh?

Besides the occasional vignette it worked out fine, super sketchy, cheap, ghetto, whatever.. but it got the job done.

Hi Greg,

Nice picture.
Thanks a lot for the fast reply.
We are going to try with this tricky (I and my girlfriend Eloisa, the ownner of the DVX-100be, she is DF and is in pre prod of a film).

Do you use this metod out off the tripod? We have a lot of scenes with the camera on the shoulder. Its safe to use this combination with the camera in the hands and walking?

Its not easy to find a matte box or square filters in Buenos Aires. Your noob idea sounds good for the short time we have to shooting. But we need to test how safe and how many time takes to get ready to shoot.

Thanks.

Anibal & Elo.

Typically you don't use a circular polorizer hand-held because the sky's exposure will change if you move the camera too much. But to answer your question no, that was only a quick fix for use with the tripod. All the hand held stuff we did, I just took off the polarizer.

Remember all your wide shots will probably have vignetting, and it may occur in the under-scan,.. meaning you won't see it until you pull it up on your computer.
