Burning someone's face on a stove

Hi, I want to have a shot where someone is holding someone else's face onto a stove burner. I want to make it as realistic as possible. This is going to be shot in black and white, so it's not necessary to make the burner red per se.

How long is there face on the burner? Most of the effect you would not see until they lift there face from the burner then you just add the burn marks with makeup.

Step 1: Turn front left burner on HI
Step 2: Allow time for burner to reach desired heat.
Step 3: Hold your actors face against the burner.
* If actor refuses refer to step 4 *
Step 4 Call your actor a "bad actor" and threaten that he will "never work in this town again"

Repeat steps 3 and 4 if needed.
(Make sure the lens cap is off, wouldnt want to have to reshoot this one)

Harsh man, harsh. But as Peter Jackson says "Pain is temporary film is forever" heh.

There would be a glow off the burner, and smoke too. Using a dead stove which can be found on the curb would be best. Then you can put a small light under the burner, and run a tube or hose to blow smoke through to the burner. Be sure to ad a little bacon sizzle to simulate the sound of burning flesh.

Smoke

Smoke

There is a product called A+B Smoke. You can get it at an effects expendible retailer. It is two clear liquids, and when the fumes mix, it creates a smokey vapor. You could experiment with that to get the desired effect so that the smoke happens as your actor's face is on the burner. You could also add a glow to the burner in After Effects by masking it and adding the glow effect, but if you had the smoke, you probably wouldn't need to do that. I think the audience would know that he is getting burned :)

Another note

Another note

Just another note on my previous comment. A+B Smoke is a chemical effect, and like most chemical effects is potentially dangerous and can have negative effects, so use standard safety precautions when using it. That is all.
