Your Very First Movie

cpu was my first offical film i ever did that was completed. the rest was camera test.

my first short was about a man who likes to kill people withoiut any reason... and it was bad...so bad, it shouldve been nomiated for an oscar

On my first proffesional shoot, I was the Boom operator on a bad action film called Expect no Mercy, starring Billy Blanks the Tai Bo guy. I even have a few shots as enforcer #5 or something, when some of the estras did not show up.

My ZombieFest entry, No Such Thing, was my first actual short. I didn't start shooting any projects for myself until recently.

My first film-making experience was as producer on a feature in 2004. Now in post hell.

My first screenwriting experience was on a short shot last year. Gearing up for festivals.

My first directing experience was on a short we shot just 3 months ago. Submitted a rough cut to Tribeca. Once we've got a final cut I'll post a link.

Ahhh! Blast from the bast!

Deserves to still live. Maybe now that I 'accidently' bumped it some more people will share there stories and experiances. My first film , well proper film is going to be the Hallows Fest Entry.

"Wings of Freedom"

Wasnt a movie it was a music video to commemerate lives lost in Sept 11th. I shot it on a $150 Hi8 cam with some cheap editing software but it gained alot of attention. The project was featured on the Rush Limbaugh show, also aired at a congressional meeting and I also recieved a letter from the Sec of Defense and a signed photo of the President and the First Lady.

I will dare to share...

... my first "movie" with you.

We did this for a film challenge. You know - create a movie in N hours. This time it was a horror film challenge, it happened on the night before Friday the 13th, and we had to make a horror movie in 13 hours :).

Shooting horrors during the night and then editing with red eyes. Fun. :)

It is the first thing that i did, which can be regarded as movie, because it has some primitive story and dialog and... :)

I had done a music video and some other BS stuff.

There is [in]adequate violence, but it's a comedy, actually. Or that was the idea.

Here's a link (7:04 min.):

I don't have it anymore but... it was AWFUL.

I was about 10 and it involved a guy staring at a rolie polie (sp?!?) in an introspective state. He then hopped on a bike and went on a short bike ride. I believe he later walked into a sunset.

The end. A brilliant 3-act structure crafted by yours truly.

And when you make it big and you are on the Tonight Show promoting your upcoming film it will surface and they will show that instead of your newest film clip :D

My first movie was a slasher film parody I made when I was 12. My step-dad filmed it for us with his brand new Sony Hi8 handycam. We shot it in sequence, and edited in camera. Whenever e did a bad take, we rewound to the end of the last shot, and taped over the bad take with the new one. Titles were made by my sister with a paint program on an old dinosaur mac, which were then filmed, hand-held, while I played the Halloween theme music from a cassette tape that I recorded by playing the movie on VHS and holding the built-in mic on the tape recorder near the TV speakers. Yeah. I played the killer, and my friends and siblings played the victims, although I only end up killing on person--my friend Ruby, in a lightsaber duel. Yeah, if that isn't any indication on how good this opus is, let me elaborate further. There's also a scene where I decide that I would rather dance, and we all break out in an improvised dance sequence, until I decide that, no wait, I would rather kill, and then I proceed to chase them for about three minutes. Then my friend Miguel confronts me, and we have a knife fight, all the while you can see our friends and my sisters, who supposedly ran away from the killer, lounging on the front lawn in the background. Needless to say, the movie is horrible, but I'm having flashbacks of filming this thing, and how fun and exciting it was. I had loved movies since I was very little and had wanted to make my own for a while, so it was great being able to show people a movie I made. I ended up showing it in all of my classes on the last day of school. Surprisingly, everyone liked it. I still have the old VHS copy.

My first short film, Urban Spaceman, was shot this year. In all honesty, it's pretty bad. It was shot on a Panasonic GS500 in 'pro-cinema' mode and the colourisation in the opening scenes was purely accidental, although I tried to replicate it in subsequent scenes. Budget was $75 Australian and that was mostly for the suit. Totally clueless about cinematography (thats why I look on this forum for help), the story was stripped down due to time so it became vague and 'ethereal'. Anyway, have a laugh at it on: http://www.niceshorts.com.au/watch.asp?video=3333. You know you want to!

I love that when hes approaching the house he freezes to avoid being seen....and it works!

now i'm going through stuff trying to find my first movie

Well... here's a thread I thought would be fun to start... it's fun seeing where we came from... this is my very first short ever, called Star Hunt: Adversary. I don't remember exactly when I made it. I think I was 12 or 13. It taught me a lot though. I learned the concept of angles and cutting... though I didn't know anything about "the line" or anything, I still got the idea of cutting and not doing things in one long master shot... these are some of the things I learned on my very first short ever... please post your first shorts and things you learned...
