hey guys,

i want to purchase a letu35fe, before that i want to get a nikon lens 50mm.....

on the letus35fe site it says it accepts nikon AI mounts... been looking on ebay, and is there a difference between AI and AF????

also, can I adjust the aperture without using any hack trick, mounting, or anything?

already ordered a couple canon FD, but they were broken, couldnt get the q-tip hack to work... not had any luck with canon FD lenses

thanks for any advice and help!

david

PS: if u know anybody selling either canon fd or nikon ai 50mm let me know... would rather buy from this forum than off ebay!

Dont get anything that is AF...It wont work because you will need the electronics to get the iris open. Just stick with the old Nikon F mount MF lenses or Canon FD lenses if your adaptor accepts it. PS Shop around more for the 35mm adapter. There are many to look at..

no problem..also check into craigslist for lenses..I picked up my 24mm for 60bucks and I got to inspect it before I purchased. I'm wary about ebay when it comes to lenses because of what people claim as excellent is sometimes not true.

oh one more question, do the nikons have to be mounted in order to adjust the aperture? like the canons? or can i simply turn the aperture on the lens itself without any mounting, q-tip hacking?

thanks for the craiglist tip!

oh and also, is there a quality difference between pancakes and regular primes?

thanks again.....

you can turn the aperture at any time with or without having the lens mounted on the adapter..It is full manual vs the AF lenses always remain shut unless you give it a electronic source to work with..IE Digital SLR camera.

Not familiar with pancakes lenses...I only use primes.

Hi

I have the nikon af-d leneses....they can be used manual or automatic/electronic mode...will that be ok to use on letus...I use the same lense on my fully manual nikon fm2 body as well as on my nikon d200....and they work on both great...so will those work on letus products as well?

Not sure about those...most AF lenses tend to close the iris when there is no powersource to run it. But if it works on your FM2 then it might work but you will have to try it out to really see. I only bought the older prime lenses because of cost and for the quality of the glass.
