Bikers Korner...........

Isn't it amazing that you can buy a bike that will do 200 right off the showroom floor? :-)

I've been to 180 lots... not much over that though... the blue one there topped out at 183... the red one would only do about 165. It's possibly a miracle that I'm still here.

I used to know this guy that lost some fingers off his throttle hand... slide, crash, chain-sprocket... he got another R1 and made this cool paddle thing so that he could ride with just an index finger, thumb, and pinky.

Now THAT is hardcore.
jeesh i didn't know they went that fast! the most i've ever gone was 105 and that was on my 88 heritage and i didn't know because everything is shaking so bad you can't see the controls never mind the cop behind me who later on told me how fast i was going...so that's my next question....if you are going that fast, you have the balls to look down to see!!!! and if you do then can you see it without the shaking.....(or maybe that's me shaking and not the bike!)

Well I sold my 1999 Harley Softail to buy a touring bike. Road Glide or something. Just couldn't pull it off this year. This was one of my road trips to Sturgis and a stop at Devils tower.

nice, you could have dress this up! some bags here and there...unless you want the radio and heater.....that reminds me of the time i doubled Brascomb Richmond in Renegade tv show, i drove a full dressed Honda....and it had reverse!!!!!!!! oh that was kool!!!!!!!!!!!

I might be getting the Suzuki M109R cruiser this week if all goes well, anyone have any experience with this bike?
It's 1800cc's, and beautiful.

man that is some kool sh it, oh man i 'd like to have seen it finished!
You and me both. The front end was mildly stretched, and the springer was 11" over, but it sat level and sweet. I also had a set of the old black 16" laced wheels with drums, not disk, and found a source for the white walls. The frame was molded and painted a dark metallic grey, the tanks and full fenders would have been the same grey with black.

I keep saying some day I'll finally get that bike. When we sold the house, I kept $10,000, and man it crossed my mind more than once, but I opted for a new cam and upgraded some gear instead. Dammit.

Kimko... one of the funnest bikes I ever had was a CR80 expert... that's an 80cc motocross bike in a larger then normal suspension package... it was a very dangerous toy... we also has a YZ125 and a CR500... before that there were many many less dangerous off road bikes. My family is ALL ABOUT motorcycles... my sister has a couple bikes now and has owned many in the past also... they have a custom Harley now that's really bad ass. My two older brothers raced supercross and regular motocross on a national level... Yamaha sent us crated bikes all the time.

The blue R1 up there was the fastest bike I've owned yet at 183... those are carbon fiber wheels on there... with magnesium spokes. That bike is ultra-bad... honestly now... you asked about doing 180+ mph... seriously you can do it without even trying. It's as mechanically intense as squeezing the trigger on a cordless drill... naturally I stay behind the screen at those speeds, but you can still stay upright even to 150+ and it's not too bad. I've done 155 2-up before... for MILES ON END... at 180+ I will say that it's like being on an acid trip or something though... not from the bike... but from the world passing by. I've been over 150 in a pack several times and it's bizarre having this still reference all around you from the other bikes... and then this streaking world is framing everything else... it gives me goosebumps just trying to explain it.

The thing is though... I like pretty much ALL bikes... I have fun on ALL of them and I admire ALL of them. I ride Harley's sometimes also... I like them all. To me bikes are like cameras... I don't understand why some people care if a guy shoots with an XL2 or DVX or WHATEVER... same with bikes... I don't care... if it's got two wheels then I'll ride it.

Here's my sister from about 30 years ago... on our bike... we burned a thousand tanks of gas in this thing :-)

That picture is so scary and so wrong, it's freaking me out...

...times change, and standards too, I guess.

What!? You don't see that as proper riding protection?

Then you sure won't like my cousin's riding gear... again... still 30+ years ago...

Back when I had one of my Kawi 750 twins, I used to work with a guy that raced a CBR Pro/Am. He would always come up to me and Say "Let's race!" , and when I would decline, he'd call me a P*ssy. I realized my beat up old 78 street cruiser wouldn't stand a chance against his tweaked out racer.

After this went on for some time, I got tired of it. He came up and challenged me again to race. I said ok. He was sort of stunned speechless, and I said I got to pick the course. He jumped on it and agreed. I said it would be off road, and his jaw dropped. No way dude! You crazy? My reply was "P*ssy."

I use to go out and chase dirt bikers on that thing, and pass cars- on the side of the road. I swear it almost spent as much time off the road as it did on it. Mostly intentionally.

My GS is much the same.

I can beat virtually any production bike coming off the line (great low-end thrust), but within a block or so most any 600 sportbike can catch up and pass...

...also great for scouting reaaallly out-of-the-way locations.

Wow that's great! it's a amazing when you're brought up on bikes it's like second nature to ride anything, anywhere........and how!(as Spanky would say) i too don't give a hoot what people ride because i rode mini bikes(homemade lawnmower engines) in the 60's then i moved up to a honda (i forget 120 or 150 or?) then a bigger one then suzuki's (i think 380) and a YAMAHA 750? then a GS 1000 man that was fun! then an 88 heritage now this one 07 DWG FIRST BRAND NEW BIKE I'VE EVER OWNED. it's funny how some harley weekend warriors blast others about riding other makes when these suckers don't even know how to ride!:Drogar-Shock(DBG):

Yeah. Brand-loyalty is all fine and well, but ultimately the only important thing, is engine + 2 wheels.

I've ridden through a hurricane, pushed my bike from the Keys into Homestead, and yet seen "Real" bikers trailer to Daytona. One of my most sadistic moments, true story- I was riding my Kawi twin to Daytona with my long time Harley riding friend and his wife on his Harley Trike. About 1/3 of the way, his clutch goes out. Using a tie down strap, I towed him, his wife, and the trike back to town to the Harley Shop his friend owns. As we were pulling up, I towed the bike right to the front of the shop instead of the back. The look on everyones faces as my Jap bike towed in that Harley was just priceless.

NOW THAT WOULD BE A GREAT ADVERTISEMENT PICTURE FOR KAWASAKI MOTORCYCLES! HA
