Movietube JR - New 35 Adapter from Kinomatik

With red turning the market upside down, and all of the new introduction this year $4500.00 is way much. M2 has the flip adapter coming out this year for under $500.00 bucks, and the light loss on the flip is said to be around 1/4 stop.

I could experiment with a brand new a1 for that price. Thats way to boocoo for me.

Seen the MovieTube JR yesterday on oIBC2007. It will ship in 1 month.
Prize 3500€
it's including mount diam. 82mm and EOS EF adaptor ring.
Photo adapter rings:
Nikon F / 75€
Contax C/Y / 95€
Zeis ZF /ZS / ,,
Leica R / ,,
Olympus OM /75
Pentax K
M42

Maybe the MovieTube Jr does look great, but can I just say how happy I am with my Brevis? I shot some stuff this weekend with my new (used but in excellent condition) 1975 Vivitar Series 1 (Ver.1) 70mm-210mm zoom lens. IMHO, it looks fantastic!

And Cinevate just announced the Flip-Module will be shipping in a month.

what people are forgetting when looking at the price is how expensive the prism is that they use. I'm sure they are still adding a good mark up in price, because film products are so specialized.

i've shot with the Movietube LT and I have to say, it was as soft as a pro mist 2 and ate so much light. I hope they make this one sharper than the old.

All of the adapters are ridiculously overpriced. That won't last much longer. I predict a year from now the Cinevates anb Redrocks (let alone the Kinematiks) won't be able to charge $500 for these things. They will be cheaper, smaller and lighter and come from Asia.

Where do these manufacturers get off?
$4500?????

THE INSANITY!!!!

I won't bother repeating the comments of others: RED is out now, the other adaptor manufacturers are lowering their prices, and this thing is *static* !!!!!!!!!
Pleeeeease, give me a break!!!!!

Let's put this in perspective:

Sub $10k camera + Movietube = same price as RED basic package.

I know what I would buy if I had $15k.........

MOVIETUBE people - lay off the crack pipe, ok?

Sorry, but I won't be the testdummying this one. That adapter cost more than a XHA1, and as much as a used hvx200. What the F!
The ground glass must be made out of the most precious diamond mined out of the darkest reaches of Paris Hiltons _ss.

Not me. The footage had better be amazing for that price.

Check your math. Red to be functional (rails, storage, batts, body, etc) will run you at least 30G. That 18k just gets you a body. That's it. You need storage, monitor, cage, at least 4 batts, charger, .... Add lens set, matte box, a real tripod and filters and your past 40g

You say that like it's a bad thing. Static is the holy grail of adapterhood. If someone could make a truly grainless static adapter, that'd be far superior to any vibrating or rotating system.

Much as I admire the Letus, its one downfall is that the ground glass pattern can be more discernable at faster shutter speeds. A true static adapter would be potentially invisible at all shutter speeds and frame rates.

I haven't tested a MovieTube, but I have to say the one thing that makes it interesting is the fact that it's static.

Hi guys, I dont want to dissapoint you but im 100% sure that the Movietube JR has the same wax-gg as the old one + some extra coating to gain more light.
I think that is meant in their pdf (not a regular ground glass).

Daniel

no, they have something they call FILMscreen.

http://www.abelcine.com/store/pdfs/MovietubeJR.pdf

not at all saying that this is THE purchase for everyone, or anyone for that matter. but there are still a lot of crews out there who rent everything for their shoots. and this thing might end up producing a great image.

and as far as the makers of Brevis, and the other lower priced adapters. those saying that they are overpriced should attempt what they have. the amount of time and money they invested into figuring how to make these things work was probably immense. and it's not like they have factories pumping these things out by the second. the demand/production volume isn't there to have a lower price. they're putting them together by hand at home.

and I can only continue to hope that Jonathan and the gang over at Cinemek finally release their adapter. and yes, hopefully a static option. or perhaps one that can be used static in the right lighting conditions, and vibrating when needed.

Shouldn't wax by its very nature be "grainless"?
Should be, but I think at some point stopping down your lens there is noticeable grain. People got very close over at DVinfo, and so did cinemek with the g35....but eventually the grain was there and it i think it ultimately caused cinemek to halt production. These damn HD cameras of ours catch everything at 720 and 1080i.

the Go35 is static, and thats my "saving prvt Ryan" adapter. when i need that hig hshutter speed frantic look thats my go to adapter. its image rendition and light treatment is FAntastic. The movietube jr certainly has a place and a use as it seems to be very useable handheld.

No, because it's not out yet. But it will come in june. I read that a few days ago on a flyer that was inside the german Kameramann Magazine.
The BBC tested the Movietube adapter and they stated that there is no loss in resolution whatsoever.
