Anyone located in Tennessee? or wants to go there?

A friend of mine was 2nd unit director on this film, and I've met the producer/editor who's a real cool guy as well... anyway, they're looking for someone. The details are below...

Uh...by way of comparison...

I'm shooting a conference in Scottsdale in early October...and that's $2500 for two days, plus round-trip airline tix, food, and lodging.

Expecting that someone competent will perform creative and technically skilled work, for around $100 per day, doesn't seem terribly reasonable, to me.

But maybe someone else would see it as a decent opportunity.

Sure. But it's kind of like restaurant dining - maybe you have the money for the price on the menu...but if you don't have enough left for tip, then you can't afford to eat out.

Low budget doesn't justify the expectation that skilled people will be interested in working for slightly-over-minimum-wage.

Although this might look like the right opportunity for someone; if they're interested in doing it, and your friends are satisfied with what they can get for the money, so much the better.

I've got no experience with FCP, and I hate Macs. On the other hand, I'll gladly accept a paid vacation to... where was it?

if you don't like the rate, don't take the gig. but enough griping already. sounds like Brandon is letting the community in on a cool project.

Yeah, and guys, if you're already a working professional, who have steady gigs, disregard this... on the other hand, if you're fresh out of film school, or even high-school, and have experience playing around with FCP on your own or whatever, give him a call, and see if you could get some experience.

Actually, I was serious. I just like to be up front, so consider that a letter of interest if you will. But, I realize I don't have the experience he needs, so I never fully expected a serious consideration either.

I've been following AFG since I first heard about them and I think they've got a great purpose. I wish there was some way I could participate - I would really love to do this. I just wish their timeframe wasn't the first three weeks in September. :(

Ah really? Yeah, I'm pretty closely in contact with them, and I have several friends who worked on the set... Just wrote a short film script with the girl who was the lead in their film as well.

I would help them out, but I am seriously slammed right now.

Looks cool. If I wasn't already booked on things I'm actually qualified for, I'd be interested. Although they might be less interested in my basic FCP skills. But if they're looking for more scripts...

Having visited their site, I can see that to the right person, the job might be attractive for reasons beyond the rate.

This is definitely intriguing. I just moved to San Diego and just had 2 interviews for really good "regular" jobs today telling them I could start asap, ha. If I was still in Indiana I'd be jumping up and down for this job, especially since my cousin just moved to Nashville. I'm still going to look into it though....
