First: Is the the film section gone on the forum? anyway

I'm started to prep for a short I'm shooting on s16, and I was curious if anyone has had any experience with the Vision2 Expression line. I know its supposed to have pretty good latitude and low grain. But I was curious if anyone has had any opinions on it, and also if there is something similiar from fuji.

thanks

Yeah, I mean depending on what stock in the Expression line you are interested in, they are very strong stocks. Since you mentioned S16, I would recommend 7229.

It has a great grain structure, and more subtle colors, with a lower contrast. It handles tone really well, and gives skin a little softness, without making the overall image look soft. Awesome latitude, I mean you can go like 5 stops over and under and still retain most of your highlight and shadow detail. Also, the 29 has a lot less grain than usual in a 500T stock. Check it out on Kodak's website for more info.

Although its not Expression, Kodak's V2 7218 (also 500T) is also great. Actually my favorite for S16. It has slightly higher contrast, but still retains excellent shadow detail and color reproduction.

The film thread isn't gone, it just got moved to the "Other Cameras" section. It's in hiding.

I shot an entire WW2 short film on 7229 last fall including some push processing. I rated the film mainly at 320 ASA but some night exteriors were easily 1 to 1 1/2 stops under at 500 and held up really well.
