This lens is a steal, right?

This is more out of curiousity than experience, but wouldn't a still camera lens loose your focus if you zoomed while recording? I thought I had heard that somewhere... though I can't be sure... someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

No your right and they say its a pain in the ass, that's why you got someone taking care of the focus ring the whole time. People complain, "everytime my actor breathes he goes out of focus". And while zooming the other hand has to be playing with the focus ring to make it work.

Had a feeling someone was gonna ask that. I have no response. If you can help, help, if you can't... go to another subject matter.

if youre planning on using it with a 35mm adapter (redrock, brevis, sgpro, etc...)
its kind of a slow lens. look for lenses generally no slower than 2.8

the auto focus feature will be of no use to you BUT make SURE SURE SURE that the aperture can be manually controlled!

Way slow for a lens used with an adapter. Has no application to an HVX without an adapter.

No - wait - it does have one use. You can keep the pages of Barry's book open with it in a heavy wind!

Not sure why you'd want this lens (?). It's an auto "G" lens with aperture set by the cameras electronics. And even on a still camera it's not that great a lens.

Anyway, it's meant to be used as auto focus auto everything, on a Nikon camera.

I personally would look for manual lenses that have aperture control and focus. Nikon AIS or AI lenses are great and some have maximum apertures of 1.4.

I'll second that. I just got a nikon 50mm f1.4 from KEH. You can trust their ratings system on their used stuff, and that makes it worth it to me.
