Sorry but im sure this has been asked millions of times, but i searched and didnt see much. Ok, well as most people know, fcp has a big problems with audio being off after an import, so i decided to give i moive hd a shot. I imported in i movie, and it everything was fine as far as audio sync go. The only thing i wasnt sure about was that i movie imports has .dv files. Is there a dis advantage of this file type or is there a was to import a .mov in i movie.
The second biggest reason i was thinking about import through here is because when final cut pro is importing you can not edit at the same time, or can you? When i have a big project id like to be able to edit while it captures and it seems that i movie import is my answer..
So the short question is what are the advantage and disadvantages to importing in imovie vs fcp. Oh, and just clarify i am importing SD mini dv footage.

Thanks

I'd say no- iMovie loses your timecode so you'll be hosed in FCP if you ever need to recapture anything. If this becomes a major issue, maybe it's time to get a second machine just for ingest. That's how the big boys do it. :)
