for the love of God, please let this be permanent

Nope, it's a one-time-only event. unlike most of the pruned old timers the Zeppelin boys have enough brains left to know that a world tour would be a disaster. This whole "let's resurrect the dead and have them perform so the old-timers can see just how old they've become and the kids of today can shake their heads and laugh at their parents' geriatric idols" thing is such a waste of time. The Police reunion was c-r-a-p. The Stones should have stopped rolling about 20 years ago. Duran Duran should have just passed the torch to The Killers who are doing a much better job. Guns 'n Roses ... I'm not even touching that one. Stone Temple Roses... I mean Velvet Revolver is an embarrassment. The Smashing Pumpkins (or should I say The Billy Corgan Solo Project) is dreadful. The Who's reunion was a joke. I'm expecting the Van Halen reunion to last all of 2 concerts before Eddie splits David's head in half with his Wolfgang.

I think the only reunion worth looking forward to would be either Pink Floyd (never gonna happen) or Faith No More (never gonna happen either). The others quit for a reason and their reunion tours are feeble attempts at getting current by regurgitating the same old stuff again. Where is the innovation people?

If you want to see Zeppelin at it's best, rent the movies. The concert is going to be boring and overhyped and the playing is going to be poor at best. These guys are old and out of practice.

I'm not going to comment on what I think of their music...

Agreed - the concert is gonna be too expensive for me to justify watching some senior citizens play rusty classic rock. Some of the old 8mm concert footage is priceless. God knows that this 'tour' will be on DVD not too far down the road, so I'll gladly wait for that.

I'm not afraid of getting older, but I'll tell you this - I was listening to Plant & Page doing Stairway a couple of weeks ago (this was an older taped concert) and man, it just wasn't there. Plant can't hit the notes anymore and Page just wanked for about 10 minutes with no point, just sort of noodled the big solo. That's my only big problem with these kinds of reunions is that there's a certain synergy when a band is at its peak, when they're all together and putting in that creative energy, it depends on the time in their lives and where they're at, and years after when they reunite, all that is gone. Sometimes they might be better musicians (not very often but sometimes) but even then, the group-feeling is gone.

I remember seeing the Who redoing Tommy in a concert on TV a few years ago. Man, Townsend was cracking on those higher note really bad.

I say let sleeping dogs lie. LZ was truly a thing of wonder. I have the deepest respect for RP, JPJ, and JP both in LZ and in other projects, but think them trying to rehash LZ is just sad. I mean that in the true sense of the word, sad. I remember the first time I heard Zep4.. and have many fond memories of Zepp tunes blaring on my cheap car speakers back in the 80's when I was a teen. Great great music, but they are indeed old and whatever they do can only be like trying to animate a corpse with ropes and pullies. Maybe if they sat down and did some acoustic versions, but to tour? heh. Does anybody remember laughtah?

Then again people would pay to see them. Lot's of people would pay to see them.

They would make some nice money on a tour.

well this is most likely just a one time gig, i'm just being hopefull. the way I look at it, is that out of all these old rock bands that still squeak by or didn't know when to call it quits, zeppelin knew when they couldn't be zeppelin anymore (after bonham) and they've been one of the must reluctant bands to get back together for anything (they've done what like 2-3 shows since the 80's?). i know at least once they considered getting back together for a tour and decided to start practicing and rehearsing and after a week or so they knew that it just wasn't there so they pulled the plug on the idea. that being said they're taking this show very seriously and have rehearsed a lot just for one gig and since they're their harshest judge if they think they can put their best foot forward then I'm definitely rooting for them. they may not be exactly like they were back in the day, but bob dylan isn't touring around singing all his folk hits, he's out singing(sometimes mumbling, ha) new tunes and everyone is still loving it

and i'm sure they're not doing it for the money. they are led zeppelin after all, the band mainly responsible for putting ticket sales into the pockets of the band and not the venues not to mention 300million+ album sales

Led Zeppelin is my favorite rock band of all time. I saw Plant & Page about 9 years ago. Long after their prime and sounding as such. Even so, they were better than many other concerts I've seen. My favorite Zep-like experience was seeing Jimmy Page with The Firm back in the 80's.

I don't know if I'd see Zeppelin - I mean, I wasn't around when they were playing at their peak and really wish I was. Part of me is excited, but the other half knows I will never truly know what the band REALLY played like live.

I still go to Maiden concerts and though I think they're great...I know that in the 80s they would have been SO much better. Some people can still rock out, others...not so much.
