grain if adapter is off? Does it look good?

Hi

Im all new to this area but I am going to buy a good camera (Sony PMW-EX1 hopefully) with a 35mm adapter and I read that [FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica]the ground glass rotator inside the adapters is there to minimize grain. Is this true?

I was wondering if anyone has tried shooting with the Letus35 or SGPro turned off? (The two options Im looking into at the moment).

Does it give the image a grainy effect and how does it look? Im interested cause I would propably have a lot of use for this effect :)

Yeah, you're not going to like it. The grain pattern is totally static so your pans won't look good at all. It's not a good film grain style look, just looks dirty like Barry said. It could maybe work if you specifically composed a shot around it for something more experimental, but that's about it.

looks really interesting, ive never seen this kind of effect. ill definately have use for that at some point. but for normal shoots it does look really bad.

thanks for the answers!
